Paper Curling with Brother HL-2040

Paper is significantly curled by my Brother HL-2040 printer. What can be done to prevent this? I normally use 20 pound paper. When I tried 24 pound paper the problem still existed. I do not use the printer in a high humidity environment.

Re: Paper Curling with Brother HL-2040

Replace fuser assembly/have fuser unit replaced if you have tried fresh quality paper from a unopened ream. The first versions of these had the fuser and exit assembly modified by brother to help eliminate excessive curl last 9 digits of serial number are higher than D5J760210 have already been modified, if lower ie D4Z99999 need to get mod. fitted.

Why is my paper curling in my HL 5240. Does it have to do with me putting in a new (non refurb) Drum?

Paper curling is usually due to paper that has absorbed too much moisture. Try a new **** of paper that is sealed and I would bet that the problem will disappear.

Paper curls up when printing

Curling paper is almost always an indication of humidity in the paper. Toss the paper and get some fresh paper out of the ****. if the package the paper comes in was left open it may not be good either. open a new **** and try that

Red paper light is on even though there is paper in the tray. brother 2040 model.

This is a paper jam. Remove paper try as well as the toner/drum unit. Take vacuum and clean out inside the printer. Separate the toner & drum units and vacuum-blow out the drum unit to get it clean. Run the drum wire cleaner tab (purple/blue tab at front of the drum unit) back & forth a number of times. Sounds like you've got a piece of paper stuck inside somewhere. In the back of the printer, there is a door that will open out and down...check here for a speck of paper that is causing the paper light to come "sees" something is in the way) since this is where the paper curls up and out the top. Reassemble toner/drum unit. Before you put the paper tray back in, take a piece of paper and feed from the front (use light card stock or heavy weight paper since this will help push out anything inside that's in the way) and print a few pages this way. Then, make sure your paper is dry (hasn't been in humid area) and is lying flat (not curled at edges). That should do it

I have a Brother HL-2040. The "paper light is on & won't print.

Sounds like a paper jam. There's a flap at the back of the printer-once open you should be able to see if the paper is stuck there. (Exactly the problem I had yesterday-I didn't spot it at first and it nearly drove me mad! :)
Good luck,

This is a paper jamb problem. There is a piece of torn paper stuck in the paper path that is stopping the printed page from exiting properly.

Can the Brothers HL 2040 handle printing 65lb

It probably can but only from the front slot, the paper tray has to bend the paper around the roller in the front when feeding.

Brother HL_5280SW Clack and pages curling

When paper is damp and runs threw the fuser in machine paper dries out and curls, try fresh paper, see this link about paper. Try a fresh sealed ream of quality paper

I dont have this model in Australia but it looks the same as the HL 5270 and there is bullitin released on these to eliminate paper curl, they upgraded the fuser and exit guide to fix this problem, yours is 2 months old so is covered by warranty, contact brother in your country to have it fixed.
