Vista wull not log onto a network either by LAN,

Vista will not log onto a network either by LAN, WLAN, what is the issue? I removed all viruses and spyware, but it will not get on the internet or network at all. Before I removed the viruses, it would get on, but popups would take over, what happened?

I followed your instructions, but there is only one restoral point and it is after the issue started?? I guess the antivirus program removed all the restoral points.

Yes you are right. the harmful viruses normally capture the system data and network files. so while removing them it also removes and corrupts the restoration points as well as network files.this causes the network login problems.the only possible fix is to reload the operating system completely.you can also get it done by local pc hardware engineer.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

Some times when removing viruses, the software that does this removes drivers, and the soft ware useualy will tell you this before it does so,but this one must not have.Try and go to the restore mode, restart, and constantly hit f8 until the repair screen comes up.,then go or restore my computer, and then got to restore my computer to a earlier point in time.Go back the day before,or so,and start the repair,it will take awhile,it will restore the drivers and the registry to normal.

That sort of comes with a OS upgrade, in upgrades from XP to Win 7, I'm supprised that's the only thing that is a issue. I upgraded a old gateway (2005) from XP to Win 7 Pro N 64bit. and had some hardware issues to deal with. Consider yourself lucky. You can get use to it or search endlessly for a fix. Try the Acer forums, you may run across the issue.

Networks adapters

Well its right that we do face problem with network adapters in Compaq notebooks. We can resolve this by uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapters from Device Manager.

Click on Start
If Xp then click on run and type devmgmt.msc
If Vista then CLick on Start and then type devmgmt.msc and then hit enter.
This would take us to the device manager.
Locate Network Adapters
Click on the + sign next to it and uninstall the adapter depending on the problem either with LAN driver or WLAN driver,
Here are some links for the drivers which would be required depending on the type of card installed on the motherbaord.

How can i remove a virus?

Removing this virus can be tough because there are som many different versions that you can be infected with. Try using this application: http://download.cnet.com/Remove-Fake-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10915342.html This is designed to remove most of the variants that are out there and make sure your ACTUAL anti-virus on your computer is up to date.

Power management related query

Some system have a BIOS settings like these. There are 2 options affecting the NIC. LAN/WLAN switching and LAN power save. Are both LAN power save and LAN/WLAN switching enabled?

On my laptop, it does the same thing as your computer when its on battery (HP laptop) except when there is an ethernet cable plugged in or loopback. I made a little loopback plug to keep the port active even when it is unplugged.
