You could ignore it...or go to Start, Run, type "msconfig"

go to the Startup tab and look for the one that says "wlanapi.dll" and uncheck it.

restart the computer and a box will come up saying you changed stuff, check the box and it will never appear again.

Your best bet is to try a system restore to a point before you installed the bad driver.

Click on START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORES, SYSTEM TOOLS, System Restore. Then select Restore My Computer to an earlier time. Hopefully you will have a restore point dated just before you installed the driver. Restore to that point and see if it fixes the problem.

Wlanapi.dll error 1628 on 3.8 64 bit single processor and d-link adaptor and router on cable lan

this is a dynamic link library error . means that the wlanapi.dll is missing.
2. uninstall the router program and reinstall
3. check the trash to see if you have deleted this file. If so restore immediately.
4. do not empty trash bin you may have other dll files in there. If deleted will render your Windows inoperable.
5. this file is the file that load the wireless features in the router.

Receiving error message: WlanMon.exe - Entry

Try a reinstall of the software sounds like that wlanapi.dll isn't being "Registered" If installing on Vista or Win 7 use Admin mode and try Compatabilty Mode for XP SP2.

Apssearchinterface not found

CAUSE
Windows XP SP3 introduces a new .dll file that is named Wlanapi.dll. This file is installed in the %WINDIR%\System32 folder. Certain device driver installations for some third-party wireless network adapters also install a Wlanapi.dll file in the %WINDIR%\System32 folder. If such a file is installed in this folder before you install Windows XP SP3, the Wlanapi.dll file that is associated with the network adapter is replaced by the file from the Windows XP SP3 installation.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, check the Web site of the wireless network adapter's manufacturer for the latest device drivers that are available for a Windows XP SP3-based system. Then, download and install the latest device drivers for the wireless network adapter. Source(s): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950720

DWL-G630 WinXP SP3

Hi everyone who upgraded to SP3 or Vista! I just wanted to let you know that I also encountered the same exact problem when upgrading another person's computer, and the answer to your question (which has already been suggested) is to get the updated driver directly from the manufacturer:
http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=3002&orig=1

Make sure you click on the driver for your EXACT model number. If you do not have internet connectivity at all on the affected computer, then dowload the driver's zip file to a portable USB memory stick (or CD, or DVD) on another computer and transfer it to the affected computer that way.

Next, unplug the D-Link.

Next, open the Zip file with the driver and run the setup.exe file. It will uninstall the existing installation first. Then you have to RE-click on the setup.exe file to reinstall the correct driver. If it asks you if you wan to use the Windows Zero Configuration Utility, tell it Yes.

This is absolutely the correct answer/solution. No guesswork involved.
