Question about Whirlpool MH7140XF Microwave Oven

Fan cover reinstall on inside of microwave

Like a normal man, I did not look at service manual first to find the inside light bulb. I took off the round cover in the center of the top panel inside the microwave looking for it. This covered a fan unit. Now I can't get it reinstalled, it has four small plastic pins and what appears to be silicone sealant underneath it. Either the pins are broken or the old selant is keeping it from being exactly in place. Anyh suggestions for reinstallation? Whirlpool customer service cannot help, as these parts are not listed seperately, they are part of an assembly.

Oddly enough, Whirlpool calls these fasteners "nails". They hold that waveguide cover ("inlet cover") in place.

How to change the inside bulb in a ge spacemaker microwave that has a top vent fan

My Spacesaver bulb replaces from the top. You have to remove 2 screws that hold the upper vent cover. W/ cover off you will find a phillips head screw about the center that holds the bulb cover. Remove the cover screw & lift up & remove the cover, then replace the bulb, the cover & screw then put the vent cover & it's 2 screws back. There may be some variance but they are all similar.

KitchenAid KCMC155J 1000 Watts Convection / Microwave Oven - how to change the light bulbs - can this be done without having to call a tech?

Look for a small cover on the outside of the cabinet in the place where the bulb is. They are usually secured with a single *****. It is the only part of a microwave oven that is consumer serviceable! Remove the cover and unscrew the bulb, replace and refix the cover.

your manual is here but doesn't mention the bulb

I have a Galaxy over the range microwave, mod# 721.80002401. The problem is that the vent fan doesn't work. The unit will heat food, the turntable works the under unit lights work, the display is all...

There should be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

To access & test the hood vent exhaust fan, you'll have to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

If you've misplaced yours, y
ou can just enter your full model number (721.80002401) at the Sears parts site.

On the resulting page, look to the right for the blue "View manuals" button. Click there.

caab351.jpg

That Sears-related site has many free manuals. While the manuals they list there are all free, they may ask you to register.

Many times, the owner's manual will have the installation instructions inside.

If yours is not listed there for free, you would have to order it through the
Sears parts site.

You can remove the oven from the wall, take off the outer cover, plug the oven in, and run it.

Then you can see if the motor leads are getting the voltage they need to run when turned on.

If your cooktop lights recently blew, the resulting surge can damage the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly with your brand, full model number and symptoms.

The surface light is out. Need to replace with

You can find and order them easily by entering your full model number from the tag in or on the unit and also find helpful exploded view diagrams here.

Also, your owner's manual should cover that, and they usually have the GE part number inside. You can download them here.

Note that these are likely halogen bulbs, so do not handle them with bare skin. The oils on the skin will reduce their service life.

If after replacing the bulbs, they still won't work, won't shut off, or you have trouble with the fan or turntable, the filaments may have shorted, causing a surge which damaged your control circuit board.

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

Replace light bulb in a microwave

Normally the bulb is located inside the microwave and to replace you will need to diassemble the cover using a philips screwdriver(most likely a philips one), then once the cover is removed you will see the bulb right away.Be careful to disconnect electricity supply to it.Also the whole cover has to be removed..where there is a vent on top etc..that is the one.Again careful with it as you could end up with electric shock.

MICROWAVE BULB

Hi There!
Most microwave ovens today requires you to remove the cover to replace a lamp. Normally situated next to the Magnetron. Check the inside cavity for tiny holes where the light is suppose to shine through. This will indicate where the lamp is situated. Remember to unplug from mains before opening the unit and try not to touch the High Voltage components. They may still be charged. Good Luck, JUS004
