I have the Hitachi instructions for attempting this,

Understand---this model is prone to having a bad optical light engine--there are class action lawsuits in several states.

What happens is the heat from the lamp can damage the lens etc inside the engine. Usually there is a large red oval area in the middle of the screen.

Of all the ones I have done the reset on---it only cured the problem in a few of them. You can start out with a pink or red screen and after you do it you may see only the RED oval--if you do the engine is bad and currently is over 600 dollars wholesale--not counting major labor to replace it.

Let me know if you want the instructions and I will post them here.

If this information helped you, rate this solution as I do this here for FREE.

Pink cloud covering most of the screen

If the pink spot appears as mostly a circle in the middle if the screen then a light engine is needed. If it is an even coverage than possibly just a memory initilization needed by a technician.
