Question about Car CD Changers

Rampage I purchased a used vehicle with a Rampage ACD-20 CD player installed. The problem, is that there is no manual for it, I like the unit's sound, but I can't so much as change the clock setting on it, let alone access other features. Who do I have to contact, to acquire a manual for this model stereo?

Re: Rampage

I found an owners manual (free) on line for an ACD-21. It has pics so you can see if
it is close enough to the one you are looking for. Here is the link.

If you search on most good car stereo web sites, they will ask for your vehicle information, and will only show you head units that will fit your dash. You can also buy custom dash plates to fit non-OEM shaped units.

I have a factory radio fitted in my car but there is no cd changer installed, how much will it cost me to buy and have another fitted

The cost of a new head unit varies and depends on you.
in addition you will need a wire harness, a faceplate for fit around head unit and in car about $20-30 a piece, an antenna adaptor about $10. Places like futureshop will install for free with purchase of new headunit. It is impossible to give a good amount because the price of labor and headunit varies.

Car CD player plays but has no sound

Does your car have a premium sound system? Assuming that your cd deck is fine, try connecting your remote turn on wire from the sony to the corresponding wire on the car(if you bought a wiring harness, just match colors). Also some chryslers used a ground to turn on the amps.. a black wire with a female connector as well as a heavy ground ribbon cable... connect those 2 AND the ground to your stereo to enable the amplifiers.

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer Limited which has a 6 cd player. I do not have satellite service. A couple of days ago, I pulled into my driveway and turned off the ignition. After the engine cut off, the CD...

If it's a remotely installed CD changer (not in-dash) you've got a pretty good chance of getting it operational again. You need to pull the unit out of the vehicle and take the cover off of it. #1 phillips screws 6 or 7 pop the top and look down at the loading mechanism, chances are it tried to eject a cd int an occupied slot and jammed. Gently slide the cd back towards the player side so it's out of the cartridge, leave the top off and plug it back into the truck. it should automatically reset itself. If this is sucessful, eject the cartridge and inspect the slots, if they are warped or bent, replace it with a new one. If you have a Laser Lens Cleaner that uses fluid, use it. If not, get one, they can be purchased at almost any retailer for 15-20 and will extend the life of the lens quite a bit. Run it thru 3 or 4 times a year, it only takes a minute. If your unit is an in dash changer... It's kinda the same process, but alot more work. The unit has to be pulled out of the dash, which takes a little time, then it has to be disassembled, if your not a nuts n bolts kinda guy/gal, let a car audio shop do it for you. If you need more help, post a comment and I'll help some more. Hope this helps

Cd player flashing lights

Yes- it is in anti-theft mode. Whenever you lose power from the battery, the factory system needs to be unlocked. This would prevent theives from wanting your radio as they would not be able to use it in another vehicle without a unlocking code.
If you have the original owners manual from the car there are specific instructions as to the lock code for your unit. Hopefully, the dealer recorded them for you.
If not- you have to go to a Chrysler dealer and they can do it by the VIN code.

Purchased a 1995 ford explorer with a 6 disc cd changer and it now will not eject the cd cartridge and when the cd player button in pushed a message comes up ''no dj''. have read the owner's manual and it...

If there is a cartridge in the unit, you need to take the player out. pull the housing and do a manual release. do not force it. Possible problem could be 2 discs in the same slot or 2 discs trying to enter tray, either way, if the cartridge is present, it's jammed and needs to be pulled apart. If my memory is correct the factory unit was either Alpine or Clarion. The cartridges are still available at most car audio shops. 20-30 bucks. If you don't feel comfortable pulling the unit, most custom shops can check it on the spot, and let you know if it needs to be sent out for repair. Stay away from Best Buy, etc... go to a custom shop that's been around for a while and you'll get honest service.

Nakamichi MB-70 CD player - cannot get cd to eject

Having just removed three discs from an identical unit which also jammed, I will say how easy that was. I do not know if the unit will now function when reinstalled in the vehicle.

Remove the unit from its mounts, remove the outer "frame" (if fitted), remove the two #2 phillips pan head screws from the sides holding the face to the chassis, remove the four #0 phillips screws (black, flat head) from the top and bottom of the face plate.

Slide the face plate off and carefully handle it while tethered by its ribbon wire.

Turing the unit upside down, peer into the opening and observe the disc, gently press the carriage away from the top of the unit (now the bottom, as it is inverted) and allow the disc to be freed, simply pull the disc out.

If there are multiple discs stuck inside, oberve the large metal gear just inside, carefully rotate the gear to actuate the loading mechanism as needed to release addtional discs.

No Sound Through Speakers

Hi Jake,

If you haven't done so already, I'd try double checking the speaker wiring, you may have some exposed or badly kinked wires behind the unit.

Sound only coming from one side

you should have 3 leads going into you multi changer, two rca's and one bus lead. power up the unit and remove the first rca cable if the music goes off unplug the second rca and plug the first rca where the second was plugged in, if the music comes back on then the multiloader is working fine and you need to check the radio controller and its connections
