Use the audio jacks in the Monitor Output section. See pages 9 and 19 of the manual:

Hi I just bout a LG plasma modle 50pt250,ta and im trying to hook up my surround sound to it, but I dont know where to put the RCA cables on the back of the tv?

You can't do that, this tv doesn't have RCA audio outputs. You will have to connect it using the Optical output - an optical cable is required.

I have a LG LHB335 Blu-Ray home theater system, & a LG TV I can get Full surround sound when the blu-ray is play a DVD but not when just watching Reg TV. I use a HDMI, should I hook up sonething else ?...

LG documentation states:

When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to

connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.

Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.

If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.

My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)

Where are the red and white jack sockets to connect my new 50in lg plasma screen to my old wired 5.1 speaker system?

I am sorry to say that it does not have a left /right analog audio output. It only has a digital optical output on it. Unless your receiver has a optical input, you cannot use your set's audio out. If you are using a cable box or satellite receiver, you can their left /right output for you audio signal.
I hope this helps,

I have a panasonic 50'' plasma tv.. there are no audio outputs on the tv. and im trying to hook up my dvd player/surround sound to get the sound from my tv.. and i dont have a settop box.. is there any way...

If you have a VCR, you could tune it to the same channel as the TV and run the audio outputs from the VCR to your amp. Both would have to be on at the same time to work.

TV/DVD surround sound through receiver

Try running digital audio from the source - cable/sat - to the receiver. The fewer intervening connections and entities, the better. TV's are NOT considered sound sources for high end purposes or we wouldn't have Yamaha HTR-5860's and better speakers, would we?

I bought a insignia plasma tv and a panasonic surround sound with blue ray. Both were open box and no manuel. I hooked up the surround sound and it works good with the blue ray. I can not get it to work...

Basically, you have to use the output audio from the TV to go to the receiver.
On the TV, there should be a red and white audio output jacks for left and right. Or, if the TV has it, the best audio output to use for surround sound is optical output. You'll have to buy a optical cable for this.
