Question about Vivitar ViviCam 3315 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Need to get pictures back to full size on my computer.

I have a 1.3 Pixel Digital Camera. It was given as a gift several years ago. The book doesn't explain how to make my pictures full size when loaded on my computer. Some loaded in the past were full size, but now I don't know how to get that back. I, or someone adjusted the way the picture was to be taken but I don't know what was done. I have tried every thing to re-adjust, but nothing seems to work.

What is the largest size photograph and longest distance the GE X550-BK 16 megapixels digital camera 15x optical 6x Digital can take a photograph

The largest size is 16 mega pixel. But they used to say it only could print up to a certain size. But in programs like Adobe Photosho, after you edited the image you can set the size. Then the program, will render the image to that size. Within limits off course. Don't try to make a 30 ft or 10 meter picture from a 1 mega pixel picture. I have printed A0 pictures from a 16 mega pixel camera and they look great.
The longest distance is as far as the camera can look. Most of the time our atmosphere is limiting the distance. And zooming in to the max, can give blurred pictures when you use a low shutter speed. Don't use the digital soon, because it is the same as cropping in Photoshop. When you did not use the digital zoom, you can reframe the picture and choose a better cut later. When you want to start photographing, this bridge camera could be great to start, but perhaps you also consider buying a cheap DSLR, or a mirror less system camera, because the bigger sensors in these cameras give better pictures when you have not the optimal light. When you want to use the full length of the lens, stay with this camera, because long lenses on a DSLR or system camera cost a fortune.

JPEG storage reduced

Don't confuse bytes with pixels. A pixel is point of color. A byte is a unit of computer storage. A picture with 10 million pixels may or may not require 10 million bytes of storage.

As an exercise, take a picture outside your window, properly exposed and focused. Now put your camera into manual mode, select a fast shutter speed (1/1000 will do), put the lens cap on, and take a picture. Compare the two file sizes. The first file should have a lot of detail in it and will be quite a bit larger. The second file should be all black. The two pictures will have the same number of pixels, but require different amounts of storage.

In the worst case, each pixel will require three bytes to specify its color. JPEG files will be compressed so it's not quite this bad. At the other extreme, it doesn't take many bytes to say "3872x2592 pixels, every one of them absolutely black."

I have olympus camedia 4.0 mega pixel. old camera. need to know how to change the camera photo storage from 18 photos to at least 64 photos storage

Hi, jamesepatton, and welcome to FixYa.
I am going to assume that you are referring to the camera's internal storage, as opposed to the camera's removable storage card.
Obviously, to increase the storage on a removable card, one need only purchase another, higher capacity storage card.
To change the camera's internal storage capacity, one needs to reduce the resolution of the pictures one takes.
Example- your Olympus is capable of taking a 4.0 mega pixel sized picture. This size picture can generate a fairly large data file (after all, pictures- like Word documents- are only data files!) While this is what is normally programmed into the camera at the factory, you are not 'married' to this size. In the "Setting" menu of the camera, there will be an option to change the mega pixel (mp) setting. Try lowering it to the next lower setting (say, 3.0 mp) and shoot until the camera tells you it's full. You may have to try several different mp setting, but eventually you'll land on the right one. It's going to depend a lot on what is in your pictures as well, as different scenes and content can affect file size.
A quick note here: Lowering the mp setting will affect the quality (and/or resolution) of the photo. I have found that for a great majority of the photos that I personally take, a 2.0 mp setting is just fine. I am by no means shooting magazine covers or entering my pictures in contests, I shoot 'em, print 'em and save 'em. Just your basic home pictures.
If resolution/quality is important, I would highly recommend that you save ALL pictures to a removable memory card and leave the camera set on 4.0 mp.
Good luck, and let us know how you go!

Dont you worry about that! Its normal specialy if you are using the higher mega pixel of your camera.

For you to minimized the processing you need to lower the mega pixel of picture size., you can adjust your picture size under Menu settings, And choose not lower or higher than 6 mega pixel to have a good quality picture printout

Can my three year old Kodak Z712IS utilize an SDHC memory card?

As I tell most people but the a card of maybe 1 or 2GB in size, non SDHC. A memory card of 1GB in size for most digital camera will take hundreds of pictures. Memory card unless you are using a very high pixel camera have gone beyond the size needed by anyone but a pro taking thousand shots in a day,

Pixel problem, all pictures taken have poor pixel resolution

It sounds like you set the file settings to a small file size - perhaps in order to get more photos on a single memory card. You need to change the setting to the largest file size possible, at the highest quality. The steps for this will be in your manual. If you need detailed instructions and don't have your manual, let me know and I'll lookup your manual online.

My S7360 camera will take about seven pictures, then the memory is full.

The internal memory of your camera only has 16MB.

It would not allow you to save many pictures unless you try to change the pixel size of the pictures.
