Touchpad not responding in netboook

I have a fairly new Acer netbook, and I LOVE it!

However, just this morning, the mouse pad on the keyboard part of it has quit responding to my touch; it simply won't move the cursor, at all. I can plug a USB mouse in and have full control of the cursor, but I sure would like to have my touchpad function back. Thanks in advance for any advice. (PS: I have already messed with the mouse function in control panel; using Windows XP, if that makes any diff.)

Hey thanks. Just after I had posted that problem, I was somehow directed to a respodent who suggested pressing the Fn and F7 buttons at the same time, and sure enough, it somehow had got activated and that's what was keeping my touchpad from operating! (That F7 button even has a picture of a finger on a box... duh.)

    Thx again.

There's a little button right above the touchpad. If the light on this button is orange, the touchpad is disabled. Press it again until the light is white again and your touchpad should work.

The only button above the touchpad is the space bar!? Here is an image of said keyboard

Acer mouse disassemble ???

The Acer Aspire is a laptop model that has a built-in "mouse pad," also called a "touchpad." The user runs his or her finger across the mouse panel to move the cursor. If your mouse pad no longer responds to your touch, it may be due to a build-up of dirt and grease. Another common problem is having an outdated or damaged mouse pad driver. These problems can be quickly resolved without having to take apart the laptop.

Hold down the "Fn" key, which is found at the bottom left corner of the keyboard. Press the "F7" key once while holding the "Fn" key. Look for a message that says "touchpad enabled." b> Update the Drivers Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "System and Maintenance" > "Device Manager." Double-click on "Mice and other pointing devices" to expand the options. Right-click "Synaptics Touchpad" and then click "Search automatically for updated driver software." Wait for the computer to scan and install new drivers. Restart your laptop.

Acer Aspire One Netbook Touch pad mouse not working

There is a small ribbon cable that connects the touchpad to the motherboard. If there was any dramatic jostling of the system or it was disassembled for any reason it may have come undone. I have heard of this happening in the past.

If your lucky, someone just turned it off. The toggle for the mouse pad is Fn+F7 simultaneously.

Good Luck,

Touch pad and mouse butons don't work at all.

On laptops, sometimes your TouchPad is disabled for no apparent reason. To reactivate it, first try restarting your PC. If there’s no good change just try:

We need the software driver and your mouse are installed

This trick works in Windows XP and Vista
Go to Control Panel> Mouse> Settings tab of the device
Click <Enable> (or <Disable> to disable)

Please go through this image, will help you..

Notes:
On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to activate or deactivate the touchpad. For example, a ACER, just do Fn + F7.
You can click Reset device if neither of those solutions will work. ..

Please revert for further clarification....

On the bottom bar by the clock, if your computer is newer there should be a small icon that controls your mouse. Simply right click on it and check the box "tap to click" or similar. Hope this helps!

you can try using the function key ( fn ) and the touch pad key on my acer it is the F7 key hold the fn key and press and release the touch pad key that will turn the touch pad mouse off and on also goto control panel / mouse and try switch primary and secondary see if that will make the right button work if not its probly hardware related and your best bet is to keep the external mouse going rather than fixing that one

On an Acer, the Fn key plus F7 will turn the touchpad on and off.
Try that to see if it works.
