Question about Kenmore Refrigerators
Not as much info as I would like, but here's a good list to get started with.
Note: Assuming the freezer is at or near normal.
1. Lights do not go out when door is closed. Can be tested by checking just before door closes completely.
2. Air circulation fan motor in freezer compartment, not running.
Can be heard when opening freezer door when machine is running.
Remove rear panel in freezer compartment, and repair or replace as necessary.
3. Most common. Defrost system failed.
The Auto defrost system is made up of three components.
1. Main heater, located behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment. 2. The defrost thermostat (often called a terminator) located on top of the evaporator coil which is located in the same area as in #1. 3. Defrost timer (either mechanical) or electronic) located in the fresh food compartment. This device initiates the defrost cycle once to twice a day.
