New video card keeps monitor blank

Help! I was stoked when my new Chaintech NVidia Ge7600GS 256MB AGP card arrived and I put it in my W3052's AGP slot. Then nothing. The monitor is plugged into it, but I get no picture at all. I had also upgraded the PSU to 480watts just prior to inserting the video card. I'm pseudo-computer literate, so please "spell it out" for me. When I removed the new card, everything worked just fine again. What the heck???

What do you mean? I have no idea how to do that. I tried to uninstall my diplay adapter, but it says my computer needs it to boot properly. Can you be really specific? I sure would appreciate it.

Guess what? I figured it out. This particular card has a port for power supply which wasn't connected because I had no idea it existed on an AGP card!!! Works fine now. Thanks anyway.

I had this same problem with my computer and i had to find out the hard way.... DON"T reprogram anything... If you really want that video card to work... buy a power supply!!! On these new computers... companies are building them with as little expense as possible so it makes sence that they would only put in a big enough power supply to power what they put in it! It may have the plug for your video card but i promise... a new powersupply will do the trick! you can get an earthwatts powersupply pretty inexpensivly at say bestbuy... or you can check out newegg and order one! As i said ... i found out the hard way... i called the company my videocard was from and i couldn't believe what they told me... but i only had a 250 wattpower supply! So i bought a 500 watt and all is well! Let me know how you fair! I promise... you'll be stoked again!

Problem installation video card

Hello Virna, i have that exact graphics card and dell GX270 desktop here at home, tho it has been awhile since i removed the Nvidia PCI card for a more favorable AGP card. From what i remember, first check your BIOS (hit F2 on startup) and select integrated devices, scroll down and make sure your default video output is either PCI (if available) or AUTO) exit saving changes. If that yields no result. Plug in a second monitor to your old integrated video output, if you can view windows after bootup from there, then you can install the proper Nvidia display driver for windows Xp (available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.19_whql.html ). After installing, right click on the desktop, select properties, display settings tab, and make sure the Geforce card is the main monitor and the desktop monitor. Click apply, unplug the integrated VGA output, and restart. Hope this helps.

LG 22" TV with Geforce nVidia 5500 FX 256MB AGP card

Try getting a new video driver. Foreware = motherboard drivers and such, not video.

I saw this driver on Nvidia.com

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.19_whql.html

Its the XP driver for those 5000 series FX cards like yours. Try installing that and checking out the Nvidia Panel after.

1680x1050 is an odd resolution for TV, that is what normal 22" monitors have but I guess it will do up to 1680x1050 only when hooked up to a PC.
