SanDisk memory cards have a small slide switch in the corner. You will see an icon that looks like a small padlock. Move the slide and it will unlock the memory card.

The camera card is now write protected. How do I remove this?

You didn't say what type of card so I'll assume it's an SD card.
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I have a brand new panasonic FH3 . I bought a new sd card to go in it... it won't load. The disk is a micro sd... is this the problem?

No micros SD should still work, as long as you are using an SD adapter with the card. But try formatting the card in the camera using the camera's format feature in its menus.

How to remove the write protected micro sd card?

SD cards allow you to store digital information; you can use SD cards with most electronic devices like digital cameras and computers.
An SD card will become write protected if the switch on the card is placed on the "Lock" position. This prevents any information on the card from being altered or deleted.
If you wish to add, delete or change any of the information, you must remove the write protection.
Remove the SD card from the computer or digital device.
Locate a switch on the bottom or side of the SD card.
Move the switch to the "Unlocked" position to remove the write protection.
If you do not have a switch, you will need to remove the write protection with your computer.
Insert the SD card into your computer's card reader or back into the digital device.
You can now save and change information on the card.

It sounds like the tiny locking switch on the SD card has accidently been set to "lock". Remove the card from the camera and slide the switch to the opposite position. That should do it.
