You can buy a $3.00 micro switch from Radio Shack and replace the fault gap detector switch if you can solder electrical connections properly.

I've done dozens of them.

Sounds like a bad gap switch. You can order a fresh one at allprintersupply.com.

C3100 call service

C3100 is a scanner carriage problem... The error code indicates that the "home signal" is not reaching the main board in the required time; The problem could be a bad board, bad motor or something mechanical...

Keeping it simple: look through the copy glass; there are two main parts or carriages. The first part is the assembly with the lamp and single mirror. The second part is the assembly with two mirrors. Both of these *ssemblies ride on rails and are connected to each other by a system of cables and pulleys. When unboxed, the KM3035 has 3 yellow screws on the upper left cover that lock the scanner assembly to prevent damage during transit... were these screws removed? Does the scanner assembly move at all when you power the machine on? Look through the copy glass: the scanner cables should be seen connected to the carriages and going around the pulleys; the cables should not be loose or laying on the deck. The home sensor might not be visible to you if the both carriages are in the way, but it is a small black object with two projections. A flag on the carriage slides between the gap created by the projections (this is the home position). Looking through the glass, the sensor is located at the left rear corner and it should not be hanging or tilted.

Installing a new kyocera TASKalfa 250ci and i got the error error c3100

C3100 Scanner carriage problem

• The home position is not correct when the power is turned on or copying the document placed on the contact glass.
Poor contact of the connector terminals.
Defective scanner home position switch.
Defective engine PCB.
Defective scanner motor.
This copier may need a service adjustment. The problem could be something as simple as a switch not being in home position. Please troubleshoot accordingly. Unplug device when troubleshooting. You should also troubleshoot it by looking to see if anything is blocking or stuck causing the carriage to not go into position.

I need to change a faulty cartridge before it is empty

ok here is the way to get it. but you have to be quick.

Be close to the power cord at rear or the MAINS power switch

. Turn the printer on, and as it initialises it will unlock the carriage of cassettes. This usually causes it to travel out from its home a small way before it returns to rumble around to clean itself. The moment it moves off the base, pull out the power cord or turn off the mains. The carriage can now be manually pushed to the location that allows you to remove the cartridges. Replace the faulty one and manually return the carriage to its home. Replace the power cord or reinstate the power. Allow the printer to reinitialise and go through its usual paces.

Give me solutation of errore 36 came inb DCP165C Brother Printer

Hi,

That error 36 - means "Head/carriage unit travel error" , if the printer is still under warranty, have it serviced. But if its out of warranty try to find any obstacles on the travel path of the head/carriage unit. If you cant find anything, it only means you need to replace some parts.

1. carriage PCB
2. head/carriage unit
3. CR encoder strip
4. carriage motor
5. main PCB
6. power supply PCB
7. maintenance unit

The display on printer is 'check ink tank' however i cant get the ink tanks to move so i can check nor can i get the maintanance option to come up on my display ,,, please help

turn power off the on to get printer to start initialising, as soon as it starts to move away from the home position turn off power again. Ther carriage can now be moved by hand. When you have checked your cartridge reconnect the power and allow the printer to reinitialise.

Help fix my HP750C, clear carriage path message

Sounds like it can not find home. Is there a limit switch? If not there may be a failure in the counter from the stepper motor.

Blinking with L and 1 alternately

the L and 1 indicate the scanner carriage is not moving. Something is stopping it. Open the document feeder and turn the copier on while watching the scan carriage (beneath the main glass) - does it move or try to move ? does it make a noise?
If it seems to be moving freely for a bit and then stop - is it going back to its "home" position (starting point). Remove the main glass and then move the scan carriage by hand (with the copier turned off) .. does the carriage move ok? check for a loose carriage drive wire or debris or something broken. Make sure the carriage locking screw is not holding it. Then turn the copier back on and see if the carriage makes an attempt to move back to its starting point. if everything seems to be moving ok then the problem could ly with the "home position" sensor. It could also possibly be a bad drive motor.

Mp: bad gap home

Bad GAP HOME is a problem with the sensor (switch) that senses the automatically set printhead gap. Usually the wires break from flexing that run to the switch. Could be a bad switch also, or others.

You need to test the switch and wires with a meter.
