Question about Logitech Z-5500 Computer Speakers

2 Answers

I want to hook my logitech to TV and xbox 360 and my PC. I got a soundcard for about 120bucks that supports 5.1 right now i connect my TV with optical out from my z5500 to input on my viasat tuner. Like that i get all speakers working but at what quality i have no idea.. also my pc is conected using the 6channel 3x 3.5mm jacks. Works fine. But my xbox get no sound using the RCA cabels from the xbox 360 component cable (red and white) either to the tuner input, or the TV input. neither of em works. Maybe becose i need optical from my xbox to my tuner? but i heard the RCA red and white should work aswell.

VGA only does visual. You will either need an optical cable for your set or a red and white cable for your telly. --------- why are you using a 2-into-1 adaptor?

what sort of inputs do your speakers have?

plus are they powered speakers? you need some source of amplification. you won't get any sound without power amplification. are you putting both the white cable and the red cable into the adapter then into the speakers?
----- you have a pair of speakers with power source and phono input.an 2 Phono RCA socket to one phono plug adaptor. ------
there is no sound coming Because what you are doing is taking two sources (right and left audio) and trying to stick it into one input.
It's like two trains trying to use the same piece of track, they collide and people die horribly.

It also means you are driving the outputs from the 360 with each other, which could damage them.

I reckon you only have a mono input to your speakers, which means only using one of the speaker cables, red or white.
------- your monitor has no built in speakers whatsoever. even if it did it would definatly be 5.1 surround sound. You need to get your original av cable from the xbox and plug it in.

from that get the red and white auidio cables and then get a rca to 3.5 mm headphone adapter.

get a headphone splitter

get a 3.5 mm headphone cable with both ends being male

get a female to female headphone adapter

connect the white and red rca cables from the xbox 360 to those on the adapter.

connect the adapter to one of the 2 jacks on the adaptor.

connect your 3.5 mm cable (both ends being male) to the other jack in the splitter.

unplug the speakers from your computer.

plug in the wire from the splitter to where the computer speakers were connected before.

no plug the female to female adapter to the bottom of the splitter and plug your computer speakers to that.

i would try a local electronics store such as fry's or radio shack as well as the 99 cent store before buying on ebay. i list ebay pages below as a referance example. the first page however you may need to buy from ebay as i have never seen those in stores yet. Source(s): http://budgetgamer.wordpress.com/2008/08…
last 2 images in the article are both what you need in addition to the headphone splitter.
ebay pages:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-3-5mm-Female-to-F-…

http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5MM-1-8-MALE-TO-2-…

http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5mm-Stereo-Headpho…

http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5MM-MALE-HEADSET-H…

Unless you got a strange connector with the speakers that has 3 bits of metal on it.

Or there is a stereo input and an RCA jack between the speakers.

do you have a link to which speakers you are using?

cheapest other option is to buy a cheap set of PC speakers with 2 RCA inputs.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

How should I hook up my xbox to the back of the television using the red, white, and yellow wires? It is hooked up but I am not getting any audio. Thank you.

First make sure your video cable is set to TV not HDTV

Then plug the 3 RCA cables into the color coded slots on the TV. Make sure you aren't using the red cable from the component RGB but are using the red cable for sound (next to the white one).

Then, if you still have no picture, start the console using the controllers Xbox button and hold "Y" and "RT" until the console restarts. this will reset the video settings on the 360 to default.

Follow this guide if you get confused:

Not getting true surround sound

The only way to get Dolby 5.1 audio out of the Xbox will be via fiber optic cable from the Xbox to a Dolby Digital amplifier - which will output a decoded 5.1 signal to a 6 channel amplifier and 5 speakers and one sub-woofer. I doubt the Logitech speaker system has a Dolby 5.1 decoder built in with the amplifier for under $100, but I can't say for sure. If the Logitech has a an optical (or TOSLink) input, connect it to the Xbox and follow the instructions below.

To configure your audio settings, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Xbox 360 console without a disc in the disc tray.
  2. In the System section of the Xbox Dashboard, select Console Settings.
  3. In the Console Settings area, select Audio.
  4. In the Audio Settings area, configure settings for analog output or digital output:
    • Analog output settings:
      • Dolby Pro Logic II: Select this setting for stereo systems or Dolby Pro Logic II-compatible systems.
      • Mono: Select this setting for systems that do not support stereo output. Note If you have connected to Xbox LIVE and downloaded any AutoUpdates, the Mono option will not be available.
    • Digital output settings:
      • Digital Stereo: Select this setting to use digital stereo output.
      • Dolby Digital 5.1: Select this setting to use Dolby Digital output.
      • Enable WMA Pro: Select this setting to enable WMA Pro pass-through if your receiver supports the WMA Pro format.
Note You must use one of the following cables to support digital output:
  • Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable
  • VGA HD AV cable
  • S-video AV cable
  • Advanced SCART AV cable
  • Japanese HDAV D-connector AV cable

Picture will not show

You might want to try the following:

1. make sure that the AV cable is not loose or incorrectly seated in both the Xbox 360 console and the TV
2. make sure that you have the correct AV cable for your TV, to verify that the AV cable is connected correctly to the Xbox 360 console and to the TV, disconnect the AV cable and then reconnect the AV cable to both devices
3. if you are using composite cables, do not try to set any HDTV settings because you may lose the picture
4. make sure that your TV is set to the same video broadcast system as your Xbox 360 console (PAL or NTSC)
Example:
- if your Xbox 360 console is an NTSC console, make sure that your TV supports NTSC
- if your Xbox 360 console is a PAL console, set your PAL settings to PAL 60
- if your TV has a type of picture compensation enabled, disable it
5. reset your Xbox 360 console
- Remove any discs from the disc tray
- Turn off the console
- Turn on the console
- As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time
- The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings and then automatically restarts the console.
6. Do not take your Xbox 360 console or its accessories to your retailer for repair or for service unless an Xbox Customer Support representative asks you to do this

Depending on the type of Tv you have look for the Red Blue and Green RCA Compsite jacks on the back and the Left and Right Audio Which are Red & White Plug them in and Check the connection by turning th 360 plug to HD (near the console) and turn it the Tv and 360 on (make sure the Tv is on the right input) and that should do it.
