Question about Canon imageRUNNER C5180i Color Copier

1 Answer

Canon imageRunner C5180i Color Copier will not allow multi tray

I am attempting to print a brochure on one of my color printers at my work and when I go into the printer settings, it will not allow me to select a tray that is on the printer. It is only showing that 2 trays are active when there are a total of 4 trays on the printer. I have the printer installed correctly. Is there a way I can activate the other trays on my computer?

That's great. Thank you. Yes, it is XP, XP Pro SP3. When I go into the Properties of the printer itself, there is no "accessories" I get a bunch of tabs and none of them are accessories. If it is in a sub directory of one of those, great but I am not finding it.

The tabs I have are General, Sharing, Ports, Advanced, Color Management, Security, Device Settings, and Profile. I do not have accessories.

Also, it is on a print server originally that I installed locally so that I could use that third tray.

Thank you! Okay, now the next issue I am having with the same printer is that I cannot print multiple copies of the same thing to this printer. It will only print one sheet so if I want 60 copies of something I have to go in and do a file -> print 60 times to get 60 copies. Any idea on how to fix that?

  • Nicole Hoy Nov 18, 2009

Yup, I did do that and still only prints 1 copy. I put in 60 into the box but it only printed 1.

XP? or similar then go to printers list and double click on the Canon 5180. Then click "Printer" then "Properties" then "Accessories"
Make sure on the options listing that the tray 3 and tray 4 are "installed" or their boxes are checked. This is the only thing I have ever seen cause you not to be able to access certain trays or other options.
Good Luck

The screen with the bunch of tabs should have the following tabs:

General, Sharing, Ports, Advanced, Color Management, Accessories and Advanced Options

The screen with the trays and other options to install is the accessories tab. I do not know why this tab would not be there on your machine. I have used this tab on numerous XP machines including Canon printer/copier installations.

You could also try deleting then re-installing the C5180i if need be to get the trays set correctly.

OK on my Canon C3170's the paper tray options are under the Device Settings tab. Top right of that tab you should have a box unchecked that says 2-cassette feeding unit. That box once checked will show your copier with 4 trays instead of the factory 2. You should actually see the 2 trays appear on the copier pictured when you check that box.

So when you click print and your print screen comes up....you have a box to the lower left that says "Number of copies" with an up/down arrow that you can change from the default setting of 1 to 10 or 20 or 60, whatever you want? Does changing this make the machine print 60 copies of the page? Perhaps you tried this I am just making sure.

You don't have to use the arrow I am just trying to keep things simple.

Then my only other suggestion is that there is either a setting on your print server that is regulating the multiple copies or possibly a security type setting on your network. I know the Canon's have some other securilty settings that lock out color usage and what not so could be something there too.

Sorry I can't help you much with this problem.

Where is meter reading on canon imageRunner C5180i color copier?

Hi sophie,
Look to the far right of the operator contol panel, past the 9 key pad and you will see a "little button" called COUNTER check. Press it and it will tell you your meter reading. This screen can be configured "by a service tech" to allow you to view the count of up tp 6 different meter counts depending on the function you wish to monitor. The basic meter reading is named "101". That because there are hundreds of funtions that are always monitored and they name them 101,102,103 etc. 101 counts the number of sheets of paper that have exited the copier. "102" does the same except it counts 11x17 [ledger] as 2 copies as 11x17 is really 2 letter size sheets. So my company uses this meter for billing purposes so we ADD the 102 meter to the list of viewable meters. Again this can be configured to the customers needs or the service provider needs. You can set it to view just black and white, just color, or even how many copies were made at 64%. its wild. But the 101 meter is the default and cannot be removed or altered. I sure how I helped you. Please let "FIXYA" know. The pat me on the head when I do good. :-) Take care . SPINAL
