Rip the CD to MP3 files and saves those to the hard disk. You can use the standard Windows Media Player or use any other music rip tool.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My computer recognizes this hard drive, but windows media player does not

With Windows Media Player open, hit the F3 key. You get an Add To Library window providing you with an option to sync folders from other sources...like an external hard drive.
Select the option to add My folders and those of others I can access. Then you click the Add button.
Now you can see the Add Folder window. Search for the folder where you stored your music on the external hard drive and select it. Then click the OK button.
This will add the selected folder on the external hard drive to the list of synced folders. Once the Add Folder window disappears, Windows Media Player starts syncing the music and adding it to it's library.

I have a Yamaha MCX-1000 music server and the CD drive has failed. Where can I get a replacement?

I had the same problem. LOVE that Music Server. Icouldn't find how to replace the CD drive, since it's no longer sold. MyAV guy didn't have a fix either.

So instead, I'm using the External CD Input. I had a bunch of problems setting it up, but finally got the settings right and it works fine. But it doesn't grab the artist/song info so I had to input that manually. At least it's a way to add new cds.
We connected our external cd player via theanalog input. On the server front panel, make sure you have the sound level forthe "Analog Record Level" dial input (far right button on front) setto midway.
On the top menu (hopefully you're using a TV for this), go toRecording-Store from External Source. Choose "Analog" forInputs.

REC Type: SYNCRO: full auto. Then select "StartRecording". Then go to your external cd drive and start it. Onthe TV screen you should then see the green bars for volume, etc, and it shouldsay "Recording" at top right. You should also hear the music.

Connecting an External Portable Hard Drive?

You are connecting it to a car DVD player, but how many types of music format is it capable of playing? It should be in the Manual, however it will be able to play mp3. *.flac, *.wmv, *.wav, *.cda. But how ere you going to power your external hard disk? If it has provision for use of 12V DC voltage, same as that of the car. After its powered, only then will it work, but the USB connector will provide the output into the DVD players USB slot(just like attaching a flas drive like pen drive which uses the USB slot for power too....sodeep
