Hello . First thing is remove the starter rope and check to see if the flywheel turn by hand . If turn by hand you have a bad recoil starter , if does not turn by hand the piston is seized . Remove the spark plug and put 2 or 3 drops of oil (2stroke mixing oil) on the spark plug hole and try to turn it again by hand . If still does not turn you have to replace the piston and maybe the cylinder .
Hope this help

Hi there,

Believe it or not, I've had a lot of luck with local Goodwill outlets as a source for spare parts. You see a lot of what gets dropped off isn't exactly in tip-top condition and not resellable as-is.

I ask to see what they have and sometimes make an offer. They usually accept.

It turns out to be a win-win and there's nothing wrong with that.

Best of luck
Mike

Stripped? Maybe the recoil Spring just broke. Easy repair, sometimes you can just re-bend the 'Stop' on the old Spring

Why won't my Poulan leaf blower pull cord turn motor over?

If the recoil is spinning free and you feel no resistance either the engine is damaged or the recoil dogs are not engaging. Fixing either of these at a shop will likely cost more than buying a new unit.

this is an engine problem, you should of mentioned the engine or supplied numbers but if it's an older model check the one way clutch underneath the recoil... I.E. does recoil go back in when its remove, Yes then check the clutch, no replace the recoil

Weedeater pull cord won't pull out on a leaf blower

Suggest to remove recoil housing/assembly and try to rotate the flywheel. Remove the spark plug & check for a silver or aluminum color or coating.
If the flywheel will not turn by hand, the piston/cylinder is seezed. No further repair is affordable.

If the flywheel turns by hand and the spark plug is a dark brown color, then focus your attention to the recoil assembly to see if rope is bound or wound around the rope rotor.

I have a craftsman leaf blower model 335879770. The pull start doesn't engage. You can pull the cord and it recoils back but doesn't crank the engine. I have it apart but how do I get to the starter pulley...

you shouldn't have to there are little ears on the flywheel that the starter recoil hits when pulling the handle they might be stuck or not moving when pulling handle

The pull cord on my leaf blower will not move

it sounds as if the blowers engine is locked up. pull the recoil cover off and see if you can turn the flywheel. if you cant the engine is locked and no good.
