Ejecting film from a minolta xg7 - Photography

Take it to a camera repair shop for an assessment of its being worthy of repair.

Turn the device off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Reconnect the AC power.
Turn the device on.
See if you can "eject".

Unless you solve this problem, would you think of selling the scanner i need parts to fix mine

The film counter moves without the film inside the camera.
You will need to replace the film counter assembly.

Well, I'm not sure exactly what I did, but the problem is solved. I opened the case to see if I could get the film out that way, but it would have entailed totally disassembling the camera, and I didn't want to do that. I put the case back on and tried the manual rewind button, which wouldn't work before. It rewound the film this time, and I was able to eject the cartridge. So I don't know exactly what the problem was or what I did that fixed it, but the camera is working properly now!

The owner's manual can be downloaded at http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/film-cameras/film_mf_slr/xg_7/xg_7_manual.pdf  It takes S-76 silver batteries which are pretty easy to find. Check Radio Shack or a similar store. You can use any MD mount lenses. Minolta's lens brand is Rokkor, but you may find others with a compatible mount too. Film loading, advance & rewind are manual. So is film speed setting. There's a semi-auto exposure mode "A" to help simplify shooting while you learn the rest. The manual is pretty good & has lots of pics of the various dials. Much easier reading than many current ones. Get a few rolls of cheap film & have fun!

Not sure if this will fix it, but there are a bunch of metal tabs on each rail (that the holder goes into) that (I believe) are contacts that help the scanner to determine where the holder is. They get bent very easily. If they are, bend them back carefully.

You sort of have to look "up" into the scanner with a flashlight to see them on each side.

Delete and re install software to prove that is not the cause them come back
