I have a Sony XPLOD XM-2252HX car amp. I need to replace Q914 (SOT23) - any idea what kind of transistor this is?

thats not a good idea because you are running too many speakers off that amp it it could possibly blow a channel or the whole amp. trust me i've done it

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

The idle current (bias current) of the output section is set at the lowest point that will prevent notch distortion. Setting it higher will only make the amp run hotter. It has nothing to do with the protection circuit.

You should check the woofer's DC resistance with an ohm meter to confirm that it's close to the rated impedance. You should also check the wiring to make sure it's not shorting to ground (which could cause the amp to go into protection).
