Are you located near any other sources of 2.4Ghz interference - cordless phones, baby monitors, microwave oven, like that? I find I have plenty of signal strength but then suffer random drop-outs when my cordless phone is in line-of-sight between the laptop and the wireless hub.

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION
There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router. 1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from brick or concrete walls, mirrors, fish tanks and if possible locate the wireless router higher up. 2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router. 3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). 4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

Installed Trendnet wireless adapter. Connection shows excellent but can't browse internet

The "excellent" is the signal-strength between your wireless adapter
and your wireless router.
You still need to select the SSID ("network name") that you configured into the router, and enter the password for your network, before you can connect to the Internet.
Compare it to having a brand-new mobile telephone. Until you dial a friend's number, and the friend answers, all you have is an "excellent" telephone.

My internet keeps disconnecting every 5 minutes

Are you using Vista? If so, an unstable internet connection is usually the result of the router not being able to handle the DCHP BROADCAST FLAG. This is enabled by default in Vista (disabled in XP). Go here to change the setting in your registry and you should be good to go.

Can not connect wirelessly with router

The list of wireless routers that are available in Windows is very limited and the signal strength of any router that is detected is weak. This can occur when the Lite-On USB Wireless 802.11 b/g hardware and Windows are not able to fully synchronize the signal strength data. Figure 1: Example of detected wireless devices when the antenna cable wire is connected to secondary port c01153759.jpg Figure 2: Example of detected wireless devices in the same environment when the antenna cable wire is connected to primary port c01153760.jpg To correct this error , download and install Lite-On USB Wireless LAN Driver Update (sp35177) (in English) from the HP Web site. This update should only be applied if your PC has the Lit-On USB Wireless LAN adapter and is exhibiting the symptom. As a work-around, you can connect the wire that runs from the wireless antenna port to the primary port on the cord as follows: CAUTION: This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (like a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.
  1. Open the side panel.
  2. Find the wireless networking board by following the antenna wire connected to the wireless networking antenna port on the back of the computer. Figure 3: Wireless networking hardware c01153761.jpg 1 - Wireless network board 2 - Antenna wire 3 - Wireless networking antenna port
  3. Very carefully, disconnect the small wire from the board by gently pulling the end of the wire away from the board.
  4. Connect the wire to the other available port on the board. Figure 4: Available port c01153762.jpg
  5. Replace the side panel, connect the power cord, turn on the computer, and use the computer again to verify that wireless signal strengths have improved.

Wireless connection

When you get signal strength excellent than at that time goto command prompt by typing cmd in run window and than type the following command at prompt c:\ipconfig / all and this command will show you the status of your all wireless and NIC card ip address. So pls check that wheather u are getting the ip address in the wireless connection or not. and if you are not getting it than
1> first of all connect the wireless router physically by lan cable and than open it in browser by typing ip address of it and than enable the dhcp in it with proper ip address range of you local lan. and than save and restart the router. This might resolve your problem and feel free if any other query.

Wireless connection fails on ACER Laptop

you should try and check the access point or the router that you have, you may need to adjust the channel on that, normally routers or access points that are g standard has a channel range of 1 to 11 try to adjust that it is possible that other wireless devices are interferring with the signal that is coming from your router such as a 2.4 ghz cordless phone.

in changing the channel you may need to login to your routers setup page could you provide the model and brand of your router in order for me to help you more on this thanks.
