First add the basic wires to the old tv too. Then go to the screen options while using the hdmi on your hdtv and set it to the normal non-hd screen mode. Then it should appear on your regular tv

SOURCE: I've been using an hdmi

Ok follow these steps to reset the display :

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later. Release the power button when you hear this second beep.

Step 3. Wait for your PS3 to restart.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: Hi, my PS3 is not

You can follow these procedure to correct the issue with your PS3.

1 - Turn on TV and set input to port being used.
2 - Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
3 - Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.

SOURCE: had my ps3 connected to

Turn off your PS3. Now press and HOLD the 'On' button on the PS3 itself (not on the controller). It will beep and reset the connection type. I believe it will use HDMI if available, if not then it'll switch back to the A/V setting (for older televisions)

I have a problem with an interference pattern which appears on my TV when I turn on all components of my home theater. Please see below for details.

Hello, first thing I would try is swapping out he HDMI cables. One or more of the cables could be causing interference. Also you might opt to purchase HI speed HDMI Cables as to regular ones.
Standard HDMI Cable - This is a cable designed to handle 720p/1080i resolutions and capable of a total minimum bandwidth of 2.25 Gbps. Standard HDMI Cables can handle some of the HDMI features, but not all at the same time like a High Speed HDMI Cable can. The one feature it cannot support is the HDMI Ethernet Channel.

When i turn on my ps3 i get a black screen and nothing else

Hi Kroboken,
I suggest you check the connection cords first before doing anything drastic. Oftentimes it may appear to be plugged-in tightly but you may still need to wiggle it a bit to make the connectors seat properly. If you have been previously using an HDMI TV with this console and now trying to hook it up to a regular composite connection TV - or vice versa, you may need to reset your Video settings. You do this by holding the power button for at least 6 seconds (the unit should be turned-off when you do this). You should hear the two beeps. After doing this reset, you will now be able to choose the correct settings for your console. Go to your settings and select the correct resolution. 720p is the default resolution that works for most most standard definition TV's. You also need to make sure that your settings match the type of cable connectors that you are using. You are gonna have problems if your console thinks that you are using an HDMI/ DMI cable but in actuality you are using a standard AV cord- and vice versa. I hope this fixes the problem. All the best to you.

When i connect my PS3 into the HDMI on Sony Bravia TV nothing works

Is it working when you connect it with the regular cables? when it does then the HDMI cable is at fault.

"Display connected non-HDCP compliant" error

The HDMI cable was causing "Display connected non-HDCP compliant" error message to appear.
When I reconnected my DVD to TV using regular cable with 3 color connectors(i don't know what is the proper name for that cable) that error message no longer appears on my screen and I was able to watch my movie normally.

Just use the regular AV cords. They are 480i using an HDMI to this and that isn't going to improve picture quality.

I posted to your problem with a similar one. I was able to get my PS3 to work by:

1.) Powering down both the PS3 and ViewSonic LCD
2.) Unplugging the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
3.) Waiting at least 10 or more seconds
4.) Plugging in the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
5.) Turning on the ViewSonic LCD
6.) Turning on the PS3 and holding down the power button until the beep

After this sequence I heard the bootup audio and the menu appeared on the screen- which detected the HDMI connection to my LCD.

Very odd.. I've had my PS3 in the same place for months and just today this happened.

I wanted to post my success. Best of luck!

Playstation 3 Does not display on TV using HDMI or regular video

This happened to me a few years back so I apologize if it's not 100% accurate. If you can get it to work on another TV, go ahead and connect it to that, and go in to the settings to select the video input. If it's connected through an HDMI cable, then it will probably be set to HDMI. Change the input here to whatever cable you used in the living room. You will have to power it off at this stage, but when you connect to the other TV it should work.
