Hi Walum,

Go to the Device Manager, right click on each hub, and select Uninstall. Reboot, and make sure they reinstall.
If Windows don't detect them, go into your bios, and make sure they are enabled. To access the bios, press the Del, F2, or F10 key at bootup. Because there are several different bios's, I can't give you exact steps.

If they are installed ok, download this program.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Install it. Open it and got to Options and click on "Show Disconneted devices". Click on Edit and Select all. Then click on File and Uninstall Selected devices.

XP remembers each USB device, and if you don't use the option to stop and remove the USB devices, its "memory" gets filled up.

Good Luck!

Do you have a docking station\port replicator? If so, did you undock properly (through windows) prior to disconnecting your laptop from the docking station\port replicator? If not, connect it back to the docking station and undock it properly. Of course, you should also try to restart the computer.

If that's not the problem, your USB ports could be defective. If your laptop is under warranty, you should have no problem getting it serviced.

Usually issue might be BIOS and Chipset related
first of all ensure if your BIOS is up to date, latest released version is Flash BIOS v1.3505, If yours is below this update the BIOS
next step will be updating the Chipset (Intel Chipset driver v8.0.0.1009)

Both of the drivers are available. I am adding the direct link for your convenience. Here is the link;

Please post more if you need further assistance.

Acer d257 usb port not working

First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

hope this helps

You could try uninstalling the USB items in Device Manager and allow them to be reinstalled. Also verify USB is enabled in the BIOS.

Aspire 3610 USB ports

I think you might have a loose cononection for the data ports. Try putting a little bit of force on the usb device. Up, down left right. NOT ALOT. If it starts working when force is used, i tihnk you should try to take it apart and resolder the connections. If it dosen't work, uninstalling the driver and installing.

Aspire 3610 USB ports

Device manager shows the USB port if they are attached to you notebook. And in your case they are attached. So it will show it. Now in your case the problem is in your USB. Get it changed. If it is in warranty peroid then dont u take any risk. Let it be replaced. Or give your notebook in warranty period to the company from which you bought.

USB ports not working Acer Aspire laptop

Two solutions would be to either restore your pc to before the problem started, using system restore on accesories menu, or use the recovery cd or the recovery folder Acer laptops usually have on the 'D' drive and re-install usb controllers and drivers.
