Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Open the dryer door and locate the screws to lift the top. The GE dryer ( 1997-present ) only the front part of the top will come lift off as the timer and console stay in place with the top lifted. Locate the screws inside the front panel ( picture one ) ( picture two ) at the top, remove these screws. The front should be moved off to the left side...this is because of the door switch wires. To remove the drum on a GE dryer, once the front and top are removed, locate 2 screws about 6 inches from the floor on left and right side and remove them. This will allow you to "push" out the side panels a little to help the drum clear the front panel. Disconnect the belt from the idler pulley and motor pulley. The drum will lift ( picture one ) ( picture two ) right out towards you.

The heating element is found mounted to the back wall behind the dryer drum. The gas burner is on the bottom right of the dryer.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Hi.

On ge dryers you need to remove the top panel retaining screws, remove the top panel, and then remove the inner front panel screws to access the dryer burner assembly.

Hi there.

Burner orifice size for propane gas is number 55. You have to replace all burner orifice with this size if you want to use the fryer with propane gas. Pilot burner orifice should be replaced with propane pilot orifice. The gas valve spring should also be replaced with propane spring kit. The difference between the two spring is the natural gas spring is lighter or thinner compare with the propane gas valve spring.

I got a GE gas range (model JGBS22) from a co-worker. She had converted it from gas to propane. I just had a plumber hook it up to natural gas but, even with the conversion manual, he couldn't change the...

There should be a set of orifices for each burner as well as the oven and broiler. When the unit was converted to propane, these orifices should have been replaced and the ones for gas put in with the conversion kit installation information. The kit should have been reattached near the pressure regulator.

If the kit was missing the orifices, then, yes, you are missing pieces. Check with your coworker if the conversion kit was missing. If you have the kit, it can be easily done by any appliance installer (or repair person) licensed for handling NG. (At least on our range, the conversion kit installation was straight forward. Every orifice was clearly labeled with the labels different for each burner and for the gas/LP kits (ABCD (NG) vs MNOP (LP)) .) The regulator is the only part that switched for LP or NG without the kit.

As I recall, the only tools we needed for the top burners were a small wrench (10 mm) and a small flat blade screwdriver. Remove one orifice and put in the appropriate replacement. Then adjust the burners so that they didn't blow out when the oven was opened or quickly turned from high to low (for the simmer burner). The oven and broiler took a bit longer. Several screws had to be removed to get at the orifices. Then the air flow had to be adjusted for the incoming gas.

I hope this helps.

I have an empire wall heater that was converted to natural gas how do i convert it back to propane?

you will need a propane conversion kit designed for that particular model heater.
which would most likely consist of a heavier spring for the gas valve and orifices for the burners depending on how many burners you have.
Most all gas heaters come thru the factory set up for natural gas and most have a kit available for conversion to LP (Propane) You will also need a manometer or a gas pressure tester to check the incoming and outgoing pressures from the green (2ndary )regulator outside your house to the gas valve inlet side, usually 11 to 14" WC( water column) pressure( static) 14" being MAX!!
Outlet pressure with burners running 10-11" WC approx. This info should come with the conversion kit if available. If you are not comfortable working with gas then find someone who is, for safety reasons.

Converting back to nat gas from propane

Typically, conversion from natural to propane and visa-versa is just a simple connection behind the appliance. Look in the box of the conversion kit (or on the back of the packaging,) and you should see the conversion instructions. Since you are dealing with gas, you need to make sure the shut-off valve is... shut off so no gas can leak while do the exchange. Also, make sure there are not open flames anywhere near the work area. Take your time and follow the directions...

Natural Gas to Propane for Ge xl44 Gas range

The kit is located at the rear of the range right near the gas valve, there are probably 5 spuds and an extender for the large burner, directions are with the range. For the bake and broil you will need to tighten the brass orifice nuts down as tight as possible, also the brass nut on the gas valve needs to be reversed
your local LP dealer should be able to do this for you if you are uncomfortable doing it yourself.

Converting your Natural Gas Dryer to Lp is taking it from a lower BTU gas "Natural" to a higher BTU "LP" value. The orfice on a LP gas valve is smaller because you dont need as much gas to make the same amount of heat. make sure you change the orifice. The little plug goes in the regulator of the gas valve, changing the valve from a low gas pressure Natural to a Higher Pressure LP.

If the kit doesnt look right, did you get the correct one?

Maybe you should call you LP provider they can do the conversion for you.
