Question about Kyocera Mita FS 1000 Plus Laser Printer

Kyocera fs-1000+ print failure with 64 bit processor

I have a fs-1000 laser printer. It has worked without problems until I upgraded my laptop to a new 64 bit processor runnning windows vista.

I can get the printer to print but if it is a long, multi page doc after a few pages it fails and the amber paper jam indicator light starts blinking. There is no paper jam and usually I can open the cover, withdraw the printer cartridge, replace it and close the doors. Often this will resolve the problem but not always. Happens sometimes also on first printed page. Sometimes have to power down and restart printer. Click on Windows > Printers and shows paper jam in status too.

On a network and printer is connected via an ethernet cable. Any suggestions?

Have tried a variety of FS-1000 drivers that were supposed to be for 64 bit with same results.

Windows 7/64 doesn't list my printer

The cd only has the drivers that were available when the printer shipped. You download the latest one here:
https://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.eu/index/service/dlc.false.driver.FS1100._.EN.html#WIN7
And yes, it does have drivers for both 32 and 64 bit Windows 7

Kyocera fs 1920 installed on windows 7 64 bit cassette 2 not showing

Download the KPDL drivers and after they are installed go to the printer properties, then device settings and select how many paper feeders you have "in addition" do the 1st tray. So if you have two trays just pick "one" for that option. Then you will be able to scroll back up and choose what paper type it is.

Lastly, set your Printing Preferences in the properties if you want to specify a specific tray/cassette to print from or just let the printer auto select.

Kyocera fs-3900dn 0150:0000007 error

Sounds like a Engine firmware failure. The clue is the low page count (the 00007).
You will need to upgrade your firmware and contact your local Kyocera sales comany to get a patch to correct the missing serial number and MAC address.

Huge Margin with Kyocera FS 1000+

If the FS-1000 prints too far down the page or leave too much top margin or leaves a gap at the top of the page etc (<- for google searches). This is a problem with the felt pads on the three solenoids/clutch electro magnets that are under the right panel (2 under the engine/button board, 1 under the inner plastic cover, sometimes 4 in total on other kyocera printers). They get compressed over time meaning the metal leavers come into contact with the solenoid meaning they are released too slowly. Simply replace the felt pads with .5mm cardboard or another non-sticky non-metallic material. Too thick and it prints too far up the page.
