Use the volume buttons on the side of the handset. Volume Up for bigger text and Volume Down for smaller text. This also works on webpages.

When you're reading the text, use the volume button on the left of the phone to increase or decrease the font size.

Onelov391, there is a solution, and it is a simple one. When you are reading your miniature text message, use the volume keys +/- to increase or decrease the text message font size.
My problem was that the volume keys were covered up by the rubber skin protector made by Samsung. Not having cutouts in the rubber or mentioning this fact in their manual is really frustrating.
