Question about Viking DMOC205SS Microwave Oven

1 Answer

The interior oven light comes on, the fan works air, the turntable rotates, the conv and cook indicators light. However, There is no heat produced in microwave mode nor convection mode. What should I look for in diagnosing the problem? I have switched the electrical circuit breakers on and off, and this did nothing to change the situation. My Viking oven is on the same circuit and it heats .

Perhaps this is the problem. The Viking parts center says that there is not an "element/thermostat" part for the Viking microwave/convection oven

If the inside light, cooling fan, and turntable are not all coming on when you hit "Start" to cook, then you likely have a bad top or bottom door switch, or that switch's mount is loose, misaligned, or broken.

See these help files:

If the inside light, cooling fan, and turntable are all coming on when you hit "Start" to cook, then chances are you have a failed high voltage diode or magnetron or a bad connection at the magnetron.
You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

From your description you have a bad door switch, there are usually a few of them located inside the microwave under the keypad control board that will need a digital meter to trouble shoot.

Microwave is less than a year old. It looks like everything is working, timer, light, air, turntable, etc., but it doesn't cook.

Everything appears to work but turntable and light on interior.

It's probably your bottom door switch. See this helpful file.

Lights, fan,etc work but turntable does not rotate and oven does not cook.

Sounds like the table motor may have an issue. You might want to consult you local repair depot for an estimate. Sometimes the repairs are more than the appliance...beware!

Sharp 1870 just quit cooking and no turntable

The fact that the microwave and convection both do not heat indicated that the oven is in demo mode, check the user manual, otherwise it will possibly be a relay not triggering, may need a pcb replacement, check Demo mode 1st....Phil

Interior fan and light

Hidden behind the control panel is a mini-manual with schematic and wiring diagram. If I could see a scan of that, I could tell you for sure.

But since it cooks, on most recent Whirlpool models, this would have to be a bad connection on the circuit board. We repair these circuit boards for $39.95 nationwide.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
