The Trap door Im refering to is in the door from the outside. This is where the ice comes through when you press your glass against the lever.

The door on my GE advantium 120 fell off and I need to reattach it

take off the top vent cover , should be three screws ...hang the door provided nothing is broken off the door or the microwave.. after hanging put the vent cover back on. If your model has a little clip/postage size at the top hinge or if you think there is something missing at that location you may need that to keep the door from coming back off... It can be bought on line if your model needs it. some do and some don't if you found something near that area before the door fell off... then your model had one..

No water coming out of dispenser. I shut off the icemaker as well because it is not getting any water as well. The line coming from the house has been replaced and is not the problem.

Hi and wel;cometo FixYa, I am Kelly.

When both the water in door and the ice maker do not get water the common failure is the door switch or door switch wiring.

The switch is item 608 this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5226718&diagram_id=23085527#d23085527

Only one side has a lock tab on it and you can release it with a thin knife blade to lift the switch free of the cabinet.
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3192880

Note the 3 terminals on the switch. One terminal is common.. one controls the operation of the light and the other provides power to the water in door and ice maker when the door is closed.
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3192880

Find the switch... press the plunger in and see that the compartment light goes off. If it stays on the switch is bad. The light can go off and the switch still not porvide power to the icemaker and water in door. Use a meter and read the contacts. Find the C on the switch and read C to the other 2 contacts. Only one will read continuity to C with the plunger extended and only one will read continuity to C with the plunger depressed. Any other result = bad switch.

If you need mroe assistance or this does not resolve the problem just respond here and I will help you.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Model gd25dfxfw00 Gold side by side; air appears to be leaking around the ice maker ejection door creating a build up of ice inside the freezer at the bottom of the icemaker ejection slot.

I had the same problem, same Whirlpool frig.

There's damper/delay arm/plunger, similar to what you see on doors, that slowly closes the ice door to allow all the ice to escape. This is stuck/broken. You can order the parts on line and replace it. I actually just removed it and the door closes nice and snug again, and no more ice build up in the chute. It occasionally traps ice in the chute, as the door shuts real quick now, before the last cube(s) can come out. I'm use to it now and am quick to open the door without sending more ice out of the maker.

The replacement kit should be : AP3595356

I know this is a little old, but I had the same problem. It turns out that under the Ice tray, there are some plastic clamps that you can set the hanging hose onto, along with a hook that the thermostat (harder thing) hangs on.

Ice maker leaks water

The GE Icemaker has a center bottom plunger that drives the ice cube discharge tray up and down. If that center plunger oring has failed the ice maker will leak in a drip drip drip fashion. If it only leaks once every cube cycle then it is overflowing when filling. This can be corrected 2 ways. One is to turn of the water supply line and disconnet the water line on the back of the unit. Place the hose into a large bowl of some kiind and then have someone open the valve until the flow is full and then reduce that flow about 50 percent. Remember how many turns it took to get that flow and shut off the water supply line. Then reconnect the line and turn on the water the number of turns you counted when shutting off the water. The PROPER way of setting the water flow timing is to frome the front cover of the ice maker and turn the adjustment screw in the DECREASE direction. My suspicions are that the plunger o-ring is leaking. It costs nearly as much to have the service call to replace the o-ring as it does to replace the ice maker. Your choice but I would replace the icemaker if the plunger is leaking. (mid-bottom point of ice maker) Just note that once a leak occurs in the plunger area if the plunger has corroded the new o-ring will wear out rapidly.

GE GSS25 continuely has frost on cube chute preventin cubes from discharging. Have had doors replaced under recall but problem came back.

I had the exact same problem. My neighbor has the same refrigerator, and told me that there is a solenoid in the door, behind the panel where you select between water, crushed or cubed ice. You can carefully remove that panel to expose the solenoid, which is on the right side of the dispenser water line. I have the model GE GSS25. The plunger on the solenoid gets rusty buildup on the outside of it from the moisture and water splashing from the dispenser. You might try wiping the exterior of the solenoid, and working it up and down so that it moves freely. If not, it's a cheap replacement part you can order from GE. The solenoid shuts the trap door which opens when you get ice from the dispenser. If the solenoid plunger does not move freely, then the trap door hangs open, and warm moist air enters the freezer through the ice shute, causing frost.

Dome lights wont shut off

sounds like there might be 2 feeds coming to where you disconnected the switch, I would co to the reckers & get another one from a similar car. Most of them complete the circuit when they close the switch/door open when the door closes then switch it left hanging open.

GE model # GSS25KGMC WW

  1. There is a solenoid that operates the trap door. When the lever is pressed to get ice, the solenoid operates and there is a plunger mechanism that pulls a metal pin into the solenoid. When I took mine apart I found the pin rusty which hangs up in the sleave of the solenoid. I tried cleaning the rust off with steelwool but it just rusted a month later and is now hanging up again. I may reclean the rust and spray it with silicon spray. Most likely I will need to replace the solenoid. It is located behind the touch panel. To remove there are 3 small holes just underneath the lip of the touch panel that you must push a small screwdriver or pin of some type through the holes to release the latch for the the front touch panel. Pull the touch panel toward you while pushing on the latch. You will then be able to see the rest of it.
