Question about Motherboards

1 Answer

Vista I have been trying tobuild a new Vista System for myself. I started with an ASUS M2A-VM HDMI board,AMD Dual Core 6000, $ GB Corsair DDR2-800 Ram, and a WD SATA Hard Drive. Iinstalled Vista Ultimate in it and it ran great on one drive. I was planning onrunning two monitors and "C" drive on a RAID 1 Config. Before I gotthat far a friend wanted a new system more or less the same. We got the samemotherboard, CPU, RAM, a pair of WD 250 GB Drives for "C", but hebought Vista Home Premium. His would not load at all. After three long calls toASUS, the last guy said I had a bad board. I had discovered that these boardswould only run two monitors if one was digital and the other analog. So I tookhis board back and swapped up (for me) to an ASUS M2R32-MVP and gave him myworking board only to discover that Vista Home would still not load. Finallyfound out that his Vista was an earlier release than mine. Got a later releaseand got his running absolutely great on the RAIDed 5 pair as ?C? with VistaHome Premium. He?s happy as hell. It took me weeks to get my Vista Ultimate torun on a RAID 1 pair on my new ASUS M2R32-MVP board. It would run great on onedrive, but not on a RAID 1 pair. Finally got it to run on the pair, but itwould take over 1 hour, sometimes up to 2 hours to boot up and then it wouldfreeze up a lot. I found out that this board had a brand new chipset and theyjust don?t have the proper RAID drivers for it. So tonight I took it back andgot an ASUS M2N-E nForce 570 Ultra AM2 ATX Motherboard.I got it to see the RAID 1 pair but Windows would crash as it tried to start. Itried to boot off the Vista Disc to try a System repair, but it gets to theblue-green screen and then freezes. I?m at my wits end. All I want is a fastVista system running on a RAID 1 pair that can have an extended desktop on two digitalmonitors. BTW, the video card is an EVSA e-GeForce 8600 GTS.Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I've got the asus p5n-em hdmi motherboard but it doesn't recognize any monitor I plug in. What's wrong?

If it won't see any moniter then it's turned off in BIOs or it's dead. which means you will have to go to BIOS and turn on the built in video adapter by pressing DEL when booting up and going into BIOS and settings and turn on built in VGA Video or buy a new AGP or PCI 2.0 Grafics card and turn off the on board video.

Power Reaching the MB but NOT reaching the cpu fan

Either replace the line to the fan (or get a new fan with a longer cord )or leave the side door of your CPU off a bit and maybe put a fan beside it.

Auto shutdowns can be any number of problems but since it seems to do it about the same time frame of turning it on then I would verify and make sure that the heatsink / cpu fan is installed correctly and thermal grease has been applied. Also run a memory check as failed memory could also result in a simillar problem. Another source of problems simillar to this would be the power supply.
