When your hard disk capacity says 320, that does not mean 320 GB fo free space, Total capacity is 320 GB, from this space required for the partition table, boot sector, etc will be taken, Dont worry only the available free space will be shown.

This is not a problem, so dont worry.

Yea your hard drive is alright. try to verify the jumper setting that limit the capacity. if ever there is non then hard drive providing only 300 GB instead 320 GB. Don't worry about that.

I have a 4 channel Sunluxy H.264 Network DVR, I have fitted a 300gb HDD but although the system is working and I get the 4 cameras on screen the message I keep getting on boot up is HDD not found

Guys this one stumped me for some time, here is my solution that worked like a dream

1. plug the hard drive you are using into a pc and check the hard drive is recognise and works.
2. Delete all partitions
3. ensure it has a 8 bit cache buffer!! This is the most important one. That means the system only supports older hard drives. I got 2 second hand ones from the local pc store for $50. See the list of hard drives that are know to work below.

MANUFACTURER MODEL CAPACITY ROTATION
ST3320613AS 320GB 7200 rpm

HITACHI HDT725032VLA360 320GB 7200 rpm
HDS721010KLA330 1000GB 7200 rpm

FYI for some reason the person I bought this off online "Ebay" had no idea how to support and I could not get support from their web site as they email they give just bounces back.

Cheers.

Segate sata 320gb hdd beeping

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.
make sure that your RAM is securely seated
try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

What is the max GB capacity on IDE HD i can use

Hi Good day!! it depends on your IDE CABLE AND IDE CABLE SLOT and of course your PC specs.
1-IDE Cable can connect 2x IDE hard disk so if your board have to slot of IDE Cable it means you can put 4x hard disk. how's that!! ^_^ if your 4x hard disk have capacity of 80gb each that will be 80x4=320gb total capacity of your hard disk installed. by the way what is your Computer specs?

you can partition your hard disk while installing windows xp

and if you want to parition your hard disk after installing your windows, you will need third party softwares called parition magic which are free to try,but you will have to buy those softwares to use it,so its better to paritiyion your hard disk while installing windows

What is the maximum size of hard drive for the travelmate 2300

Hello,

Please keep in mind this unit uses IDE hard drive instead of SATA. The default 2300 uses a 30 GB high-capacity Enhanced-IDE hard disk. With latest BIOS upgrade, this unit will be able to have anything installed. 80GB, 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, 500GB.

However, I believe that IDE hard drives are slowly but surely becoming obsolete and legacy and they seem to be more expensive as well.

Reduced Hard Drive Capacity with Internal to External Kit

Problem can be tricky.. though i offer my two cents.

1. some BIOS have upper limit of hard disk capacity. check that out. try connecting IDE device to IDE connector in same comp and see if it is being detected properly.

2. seagate guys are true .. IDE to usb conversion can be tricky ... a lot depends on card convertor.

my advice would be if you have precious data on it ... first take a backup of it, if possible connecting the disk to nomal ide connector.
