Shuts off in the middle of a brew or loses auto brew

Shuts off in the middle of a brew or loses its auto brew feature for the past week. That was before last night, then I went and put in more water than I should have..poured out the back some but wasn't a huge amount. Now, it will not turn on to brew, self clean or anything else..can't even change the time on it. I realize that putting extra water once in isn't a good thing but this is nuts.

I had the exact same issues, and just before I busted it open and started in with testing the electrical components with a multimeter, I discovered that the water intake port and removable filter were packed with 6 years worth of coffee grounds from various mis-brews. This coffee maker's brew basket is not quite large enough to hold the 10 scoops of coffee needed to brew the full 10 cups (because the grounds expand considerably once wet and heated) as a result, we've had issues over the years where it overflowed and evidently, carried grounds deep into the water chamber where they became lodged.

I removed the filter stick (on the left rear of the coffee maker once you open the water reservoir lid) cleaned the filter, scrubbed out the whole chamber and that filter area with a bottle brush, and then rinsed generously with water till no grounds came out in the rise water. It has worked like a champ - I had all of the symptoms folks described here, and since the cleaning, all are gone.

I'm so glad I stuck a flashlight in there before I moved on to more complicated measures. I think the grounds may have caused the water level indicator or a thermostat to mis-read and trigger the shutoff of the heating cycle.

Curious if others find a similar solution for their problem.

In the last few months, my Cuisinart DCC-1200 Coffeemaker has started shutting off in the middle of a brew cycle and if I set it the night before, it doesn't start brewing at the time set for. At first I thought it was related to the GFI outlet I have it plugged into, but now I am convinced it is the coffeemaker itself. Since it is now about six years old, it doesn't owe me anything, but I will consider a different model for a replacement.

i have the same problem, except my coffeemaker will not start again unless it's first been unplugged and then re-plugged in.

i've been having the exact same issue for the past month. my machine has worked solidly for the past 5 years. i was planning to take it apart and check some of the components with a multi-meter. i was thinking it might be some kind of a water level sensor fritz or perhaps a thermostat. anyone have any luck diagnosing this?

Run 2 cups distilled white vinegar and 2 cups water through the system - brew it like it was regular coffee. Shutting itself off

There are a couple reasons that the B70 might stop in the middle of brewing so one cannot be certain. The first one is where there are calcium carbonate deposits on the heating element and as the water in the boiler is agitated during pumping there is inadequate heating from the heating element and the thermostat shuts the brewing off when cooler water rises to the thermostat. Try running a mixture of 50/50 white vinegar through the unit a couple timesxto dissolve the calcium deposits or descale the unit per Keurig instructions. Secondly, it could be a faulty thermostat. If you are not handy, mechanically oriented I suggest buying a new one is best, least expensive. I believe that keurig coffee makers are able to brew 5000 cups without a problem. However our experience is that units with more than 5000 brews are prone to leakage, electricalr problems.

Cuisinart dc 1200 coffee maker auto start mysteriously shuts off

Sounds like the switches got damp when you cleaned it. Let it dry out very thoroughly before you plug it back in. Then set the TIME OF DAY first, and be sure you pay attention to AM/PM if you are not in the 24-hour mode. Next, set the BREW TIME. Once again, heed the AM/PM or you will have nice hot coffee either 12 hours early, or 12 hours late! (I don't know which would be worse.)

Coffee maker shuts off too soon after brewing.

Hello FloydBob, The Cuisinart DCC-1200 has the ability to program the auto-off function that keeps your coffee warmer plate on after brewing is complete.

The unit lets you select the time increments from zero up to 4 hours.

See page 6 of the attached manual for the full instructions for reprogramming the coffee maker.

To program the Variable Auto Off:
1. Turn the FUNCTION KNOB to the “Auto Off”
position. Press and hold the “Hour” button
for 2 seconds. The clock display will start
blinking.
2. Program the coffeemaker to shut off from
zero to four hours after brew cycle is
finished by using the “Hour” and “Minute”
push-buttons.

I figured you might also like to have a complete instruction/owners manual so you can have access for any other questions you might have about your coffee maker, in the future.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

No instructions on programming auto shut-off time (feature listed on box).

You have to use the "Auto-Off" feature, which is located on the same button as on/off:
The automatic shutoff time (ASO) can be
programmed to shut off immediately after
brewing (0:00) or up to 4 hours later. The
default shutoff time is 2 hours.
Press and hold the On/Off button to display
current shutoff time. To change the preset
time, press and hold the On/Off button until
the red power light and LCD display begin to
flash. This signals that you have entered the
Set automatic shutoff mode. Set the time
you want coffee to begin brewing by
following the instructions in “Entering Time
Set Mode.”
When the coffeemaker shuts itself off, two
tones will sound.
NOTE: Automatic shutoff may be
programmed either before or during coffee
brewing. If you program the auto shutoff
time after brewing is completed the unit
will automatically account for elapsed time.
For example, if you set the auto shutoff for
40 minutes and 25 minutes have already
elapsed, the unit will shut off automatically
after 15 minutes (40 minutes minus the 25
elapsed equals 15 minutes).

Unplug it for 20 minutes or longer to fully reset it. At that point, the default shut-off time will be two hours, unlss you use the auto-off to increase this time limit to 3 or 4 hours.
