Question about Integra Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

My Integra DTR 8.8 is 2+ years old. Lately, I've noticed that the volume is much quieter now and setting the volume at the max output will still yield a quiet volume. Now, when I play dvd's in surround sound, the volume is perfect and I have to decrease to the minus levels to enjoy a movie like around -17 but when viewing normal tv programming I set my volume at the max setting, +18 and it still sounds quiet. I entered the setup menu and went to sourch and increased the volume to +12db and it's still producing a quiet signal. I've even tried resetting the audigy system with the included mic and still having a problem. I have basic cable and not using a box. My cable goes directly into the receiver. When purchased new, I didn't have this problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

SOURCE: no HDMI video output from AVR-588 receiver to plasma TV ???

You can also use a digital coax cable (color orange) to go into coax 1 for DVD coax 2 for cable box. Just make sure to set the coax in input settings. The coax cables are a little cheaper than the optical cables and work just as well.

SOURCE: new home theater setup- no signal at tv using onkyo tx=sr605

This might somewhat help. Today I went back .. I went HDMI out of the Cable box and DVD player into 2 of the TVs HDMI ins. The digital audio out from each, straight to the receiver and things are working ok. All speakers are working OK. Sound isnt as loud or crisp but unfortunately I found no other solution.

Low to no volume output from Integra DTR-5.2 receiver

most higher end integra's have a input level adjusment or input selection for each and every input. Perhaps you are not on the correct input, go to onscreen programming and check out the input level and input select - also try the tape in another input like tape 2 or cd. It will not hurt the receiver for a test. Also, if you are using the cheap cables from the manufacturer - try a pair of cables that you know work or go by some. BTW, you don't need to spend $40 for cables order them online through amazon or other store. Gold / sliver plated oxygen free are best.

Volume control unstable

You may have an over heating problem as it the Integra has anautomatic cut out. The unit generates a huge amount of heat and needs to be positioned in a very well ventilated position.

Buzzing bass Amp combo

The problem you have mentioned is a common one with old sets, but it also occurs in new ones also, though not frequent. You can fix this just by changing the electrolytic filter capacitors in the power supply and sub filters on the amp PCB. The new capacitors should be of the same or higher voltage rating and same capacity rating as of the existing ones. And as it is such an old one, it is better to change all the electrolytic capacitors to avoid any further problems.
