Hello try to scan for malware, with this program:

Please decline the pro version.

Try also to install microsofts own antivirus program:

Save both installation files on a usb disk.

Please uninstall any other antivirus programs, before you install this.

Run a full scan for virus, when the 2 programs is installed.
Start with malwarebytes.

Check also for driver updates here at dell:

Hope this will get you running again.

Keep getting chkdsk error when installing a new copy of mxp pro o

XP Pro install disks can't run when using SATA disks - they lack the corresponding driver. Either create a custom install disk or (if it's possible) configure the disk in the BIOS to act like a PATA.

Dell dimension 4700 NIC problem

This is very common after a fresh installation of the OS. Simply go to Windows Update and run it a couple of times. Upon reboot, the system will detect your hardware and you'll be back in business!
Good luck!

Dell Dimension 4700 - Driver Reset

1st you need to download or install all the drivers for your Dell computer. Try to use the drivers/utilities disks first. Once you can get online, go to and look up your model 4700 and download all the missing drivers. Your Linksys Router is not a modem. The Linksys has the modem connected to it for wireless connections.

It looks as though when deleting the OS you might have gotten jacked and the rom drivers were lost.

Dell 2400 dimension

One thing to try is this:

When the pc starts to boot up from the disk, and you get to the point where it asks which partition to install Windows, go ahead and delete all partitions (unless one has the restore image, or you just want to keep a separate partition), or just the main big one. Now follow the instructions to create a partition, and make it as big as desired, again depending on weather you want two, or just one large one. Now tell the pc to install Windows on the newly created partition and see what happens.
I am trying to help, so please don't rate me, UNLESS I fixed it. Thanks!

Dimension 4700 with Barracuda 500Gb SATA HDD

You have to go online and search then download the drivers for preparing SATA laptop harddrives for installation of Windows XP otherwise during installation it will tell you there is no hard drive found.
