Not much to go on....

Try to reboot in Safe Mode (F8). If this works without any messages, run your spyware and antivirus programs. Then reboot normally.

In Windows XP, Open Control Panel, Power Options, set to High Performance, set Sleep and Hibernate to no/never, set what to do when lid is closed. Use this procedure: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-xp/help/setup/configure-power-management It's a good idea to Shut down at Start Menu and unplug when not in use to prevent damage due to power surges, and IF the battery malfunctions, prevent a fire hazzard.

I can tell you that you may want to have this looked at it may be cluttered dust in the CPU cooling area of your laptop this is the indication. If not checked you will ruin your computer. When a computer gets hot it will shut down laptops are designed to prevent after a certain temperature to shut themselves off to prevent further damage. I would have this inspected right away to make sure that your not blocked up with dust bunnies............John

My laptop shut off by itself, and wont turn back on. It is a new laptop. It is charged.

Sounds like a thermal shut down switch was tripped. In plain English that means it probably overheated. Was it on your bed or your lap. There is only one small vent that draws air in and one that exhausts it. If these a covered the laptop will get hot very fast shut down to prevent further damage. You should also use a can of compressed air to blow those vents out on a regular basis to prevent blockage.

The laptop tells me that one of the drivers is having a problem and it shuts down on its own.it is an hp nx 7300

It refers to the Drives not drivers. It simply means that your hard disk have a lot of floating data files due to improper shutdown or hardware failure. So, to resolve this, windows shuts down to prevent further damage.

When windows open, open My computer. Right click on your Drive C and click properties. Click TOOLS Tab and Click CHECK NOW. Then schedule a thorough check.

Try tapping the F5 or F8 key (could be either one) right after you power up. This should take you to a short text message with a couple of choices to continue; you'll find the Safe Mode option there.
