Try installing the "Sony Shared Library" and the "Sony Notebook Control Device Drive".

First install the Sony Shared Library, restart the Computer and then install the "Sony Notebook Control Device Driver" (restart the Computer again).

NOTE: Sony Shared Library is the system component which makes the download and installation of Drivers and Applications compatible with the Computer. While "Sony Notebook Control Device Drive" is utility which will enable the Function keys in the Computer.

Check this Link to download these Utilities.

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCGFRV27

The Sony Shared Library will be listed under "System Components - 1 file(s)" and Sony Notebook Control Device Driver will be under "Notebook Control and Utilities - 1 file(s)".

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My function keys doesn't work in my laptop toshiba satellite c660-a047

The function key, labeled "Fn" and located in the lower-left corner of your keyboard, is a useful feature. By pressing "Fn" along with one of the numbered function keys at the top of the keyboard (F1 through F12), you can adjust your screen brightness, enable and disable your touchpad or wireless modem, lock your computer and complete a variety of other tasks. These keys will not work if the "Fn" key is not pressed along with them. While the "Fn" key itself does not turn on and off, there are settings that can make it behave differently, or seem to be disabled.

Click "Start," then "All programs" or "Programs," then "Toshiba." Select "Utilities," then "Accessibility." Place a checkmark in the box to make sure the "Fn" key will work whether you press it simultaneously with the F1 through F12 keys or immediately before pressing those keys. Customize the other options on the screen, then click "OK." Test your "Fn" key. One of the easiest ways to do this is by pressing "Fn" and "Esc" at the same time. This toggles the sound on your computer on and off, and will show a speaker icon on your screen if it works. Press "Fn" and "Num lock" at the same time if the "Fn" key still does not work. Use the "F11" key if your laptop has no "Num Lock" key. Test the "Fn" key again, using the same method as in Step 4. Locate a licensed repair technician if the key still is not working. A hardware issue may be at fault. Hope this helps.

My wifi not working

LOL, wifi does not work off a network cable. The network cable is used for a local connection to a modem or router. Wifi doesn't not require a cable. Did it use to work? Have you checked on both sides of the laptop and in front of the laptop to make sure you have not turned the wifi switch off if there is one? Have you checked to make sure you have not hit the FN (Function Key) + (F1 thru F12 function key) that toggles the wifi on an off? When you Press the FN key and hold it down while pressing the Function Key that corresponds to toggling the wireless normally it will display on the screen Wireless On or Wireless Off. The correct key should have a wireless signal icon like )))) on it. That's the key you want to hit while holding the FN key.

I formated my toshiba l635.after downloading all the drivers from the internet to get back all the original toshiba programs.my computer doesn't respond to the fn button.when i press the fn...

Hi there,
From what you've mentioned, you have to install a TOSHIBA Hot-key utility that corresponds to the function or other utilities for specific tools. if you have the user manual of your machine it might help.
You can find them on Link, model is L635-S3025, this utilities will work on most L635 regardless of what model. After installing each utility try to press the function key try if it works, until all keys are working. not all utilities are key based some utilities work for protection or notification.

Hopefully this information helps and may you fix the problem.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Fn key not working on Dell Latitude E6400

one quick simple test to see if the key works is hold the Fn key and press the power button on a clod boot from power off state. If the PSA diagnostics start the Fn button is functional, and we'll need to troubleshoot other issues.
If the PSA diagnostics do not start, then reseat the keyboard (It has a slot connector into the palmrest) and see if that resolves. If still no change, replace 1st the keyboard, and if that doesn't resolve the palmrest.

The pointer is black and will not move

Without knowing the model of the laptop I was guess the laptop has either a button (generally next to the touchpad) or a Function Key (fn) and one of the F# keys will have the picture of a mouse hit the fn + that F# key and that should enable the mouse.
Also if you have a usb mouse, plug that in and if it works that will rule out software issues with programs such as synaptec.

If this doesn't work please comment with the model number

If the keyboard doesn't have a Fn key often the Scroll Lock key is used, try Scr Lk + Down arrow to dim the display.
The manual indicates and Fn Key to the right of the Left Alt Key but that doesn't mean you have that keyboard eitther

There is no on screen display for Fn keys

Hello,
The Fn keys are usually used with other keys for different functions. Like it is used with the up arrow key to increase the brightness of your display. Fn alone doesn show up anything.
If you meant that Fn key along with other keys dint work, then reinstall your keyboard driver. This might help.
