The most common reason your fan would start spinning in high speed is that your CPU is overheating.
Usual remedy is to reapply the thermal paste on the CPU.

Neither.

Turn the computer off.
If it is a HP laptop, remove the battery.
Disconnect the AC power.

Buy a can of compressed air, and give your computer a "blow-job",
to blow all the dust away from the heat-sink on top of the CPU,
and also, if it is a desktop, from inside the power-supply.

A layer of dust is a layer of insulation, preventing the heat-sink on top of the CPU from "radiating" the heat away from the CPU. So, your motherboard is detecting that your CPU is "too hot", and automatically speeds-up the cooling fan, to try to move the heat.

Ac works fine when fan is on low but fan cuts off after a couple of minutes on high

Bad fan motor. Multi-speed motors have a set of windings for each speed. Your high speed is bad so the only solution is to replace the complete motor. When motors are going bad they will over heat and kick out on the heat safety. As it cools back down it will start again for a short time again until it gets hot again.

About my dell desktop?

If it gets hot, fan will speed up. If it's getting hot, possibly the silicone grease between the heat sink and the CPU is dried up, or else you have poor contact. (Loose snap-down hardware)
Fix it soon, or Bye bye CPU.

Processor thermal treat error while booting

Make sure that cpu fans are running normally. Go to BIOS (generally with F2 on intel motherboards), and there will be information about cpu temperature, also fan speed (in RPM). If fan speed is 0 or very low problem is in cpu fan. (connection problem might be). If cpu fan speed is normal (high value) and cpu temperature is high, I will suggest you to open your PC case (or notebook) and see whether cpu fan is dirty or not. This is very common problem. If so, clean it.

My pc's Front fan is giving bad sound and its speed increases while playing game and give sound but at normal using like chating playing songs it works oK now what to do any one plzz

When you are playing a game, your CPU has to work a lot and a lot of heat is released. To cool it down, the fans run at a high speed making that bad sound. Playing a song does not require a lot of CPU work. To reduce this get a additional fan which can control heat without making noise. Make sure your CPU and the Heat sinkers present are free of dust.

Fan runs at very high speed

Hello

OK, firstly, if the CPU fan runs at high revolutions, it means that the CPU is very hot. The more heat on the CPU, the faster the fan will run in order to keep the CPU at the safe temp.

Hence, you will have to open up the case and have a look if the CPU fan housing is clogged with dust particles, this is usually the most common cause for the CPU to overheat. If you can see that there is a lot of use stuck to the fan, you will need to blow if off, i use a compressed air cylinder, it works great.

If there is no dust particles visible, you will need to put some new thermal paste on the CPU chip itself.

Try the first option, let me know what happens.

Kind regards
Andrea

Latitude D600 PC Notebook: Installed new RAM 1G on Dell Lat600,Now CPU is run...

It is not the memory causing the issue. You either have a clogged fan and heat sink or a bad fan. This will solve most heat issues with the laptop.http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/faq.html

Install this software and put the fan on manual high. That should help a lot if the fan is still working.

Sounds like your machine is overheating big time. You didnt say if it boots up or not, but I wouldnt keep trying until someone can look at it. You probably need a new fan, possibly hard drive, hopefully not mother board.

High speed fan

the thermo switch determine how high and how long the fan need to run to obtain the proper temperature, it will be a consern if the fan doesn't run.
as far as the upgrade of your machine. do you have enough RAM (2GB minimum) and how is the CPU?(1.6GHz or better) can the CPU handle the operating system. Since you didn't mention that, and by reading what you say, I believe the machine is not able to handle the Vista, that is why the fan is running at high speed and non-stop. The CPU is getting hot, and the power supply is pulling lots power.
Vista loading takes approximately 1-2 minutes, dependent on how many applications you have installed and what you have on the desktop.
roll back to XP from Vista is no possible, the only way is to reformat and reinstall XP.

COOLING FAN AND COMPUTER CUTTING OFF

When you say cut off are you meaning that the laptop is shutting down?

The fan is only running intermitently when on battery as the laptop is running in power saving mode
and the speed drops when not needed as well as the cpu voltage
therefore reducing the heat produced and the nedd for the fan to run.

Try using a program called cpu-z and it will show the speed of the cpu going up and down as needed. Also use speedfan to sjow you the cpu tempreture.

Hope this helps and puts your mind to rest ? :)
