Question about Sharp Aquos LC-52SE94U 52 in. LCD HDTV

Sharp LC-52SE94U shuts down and restarts automatically

Have Sharp LC-52SE94U and regularly, but randomly, I will be watching local channel HD broadcast (antenna) and will hear click. Screen will go black and sound will die, but blue power light remains lit and steady. After about 10 seconds, picture and sound returns. Luckily, all the times this has happened we haven't been holding onto the remote -- so we didn't accidentally do anything to make the set think we wanted to turn it off or something.

Almost acts like the set thinks it had been physically turned off and then on again. I say that, because when I first turn on the set, startup process acts exactly the same as when it starts up after problem causes it to automatically shut down and restart. Any suggestions?

tvtek, thanks for suggestion, however I am nearly certain that 080931 firmware update was applied since Sharp mailed me a usb stick with instructions to update firmware a while back. Is there any way to actually tell what version of firmware is installed in the TV? Chuck

It's the board inside where main controlls are. It is touching the inside frame causing the tv to short.

There is a software update for this model via the Sharp website. Included is a link to the compressed folder. Once you uncompressed the folder there are instructions in the folder on how to install the update. It doesn't specifically say this is a fix but as a TV technician personally its the fist thing I would try.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Does the sharp Aquos LC-52 support HDCP? I have Dish Network and for some reason can't watch any HD PPV channels, Dish Network says it's a TV issue. Can you help?

DISH Network blocks multiple video outputs on all PPV and most premium content to prevent recording, and they will tell you it is a TV issue. Ensure that your receiver only has one video cable coming out, to only one device (ie HDMI to the TV) and try again.

Sharp Aquos LC 32G4U not receiving any channels-

Most locations are real hard to get local stations using indoor antennas. If you are in a location where you do not have cable, I would try either a outside antenna on the roof or go with Direct TV Dish / Dish Network system.
I hope this helps,

Random turning off/on while watching tv

sounds like it could be a power issue. is the powercord on the back of the tv detachable? make sure its plugged in tightly. also if using a surge protector reset surge protector. if not using a surge protector try a different outlet. also if gfci outlet (has reset button on outlet itself) try resetting the outlet by pushing the reset button

Sharp aquos a box with mono and stereo and channel 3

Commercials are broadcast in lower quality than the programs, and it is normal for the signal to change when going to commercials. If you are watching ATSC you will notice also the video changes from HD (widescreen) to SD (normal) as well.

Aquos Channel Bar/audio bar

There is no factory option to stop the box from poping up every time the signal changes, which is what is happening. It has something to do with signal strength or the fact that your cable box is not set up for HD. Call your cable company to get a tech out to check your signal and set up your cable box because they do not come pre-set with HD defaults.

Try unplugging the unit and while unit is unplugged hold the volume up button and channel down buttons down and while depressing both buttons plug the unit in. Let go of the buttons and the unit should come on in the service mode. There will be a small k on the screen. With the sharp remote press the channel up button once. This should bring up a menu that will show a lamp error line. If the lamp error is = to 5 the unit is in lamp error shut down. User channel down to highlight that line and curser right arrow to highlight the lamp error #. Hit the enter button to clear the lamp errors. Now unplug the unit and let it sit for a minute and plug back in. I hope this corrects the problem. If the unit does not come on by doing this or if it does and you do not find lamp errors the power supply pcb may have been damaged by the surge.
