I have a D-80 Nikon with a small spot that always looks darker than the rest of the picture. It is roughly round and about the size of a quarter viewed at arms length compared to the picture it is on. It...

Sounds to me like you're on the right track.

There are plenty of places that can clean your CCD for you if you can be without the camera for a little bit, but there is also the solution of cleaning the CCD yourself. This is a scary topic, however, because a) if you do it, it will void your manuf. warranty, if applicable and b) if you do it and mess it up, your CCD can be damaged.

There are products out there - swabs and solutions - to clean the CCD if you choose to do so yourself. Personally, to make certain that nothing goes wrong, I would send it to Nikon or take it to your local dealer and have them take a look at it.

Black vertical lines on LCD screen

The CCD screen, or the CCD ribbon cable, or the CCD driver board may be defective, or there may be cold solder connections on the circuit board.

These cameras are serviced by changing modules, circuit boards, specific parts.

You will have to give the camera in for service.

Re: CCD Sensor

Base on my experience with Sony CCD's, if it was the CCD, you would have NO picture. Odds are that the problem is the auto-focus circuit or the focus motor/gear. Either way it's highly unlikely that a shop could fix it, let alone trying it yourself. It's usually easier to just replace the Lens Block, but unfortunately, that usually runs around $150....for the PART.

Canon camera A75

There is a service notice for this CCD issue and Canon is repairing this model for free. Give Canon tech support a call and they will send out a shipping label and within 2-3 weeks, you should have a working camera!

Or if you can still take pictures that turn out ok, it may just be the lcd screen. If it is not the service notice, you will still qualify for the upgrade program. You should find out how much it will cost you to upgrade to a newer model with a 6 month warranty on it.

Hope this helps!

Screen just flashes/rolling lines in every mode

Tell Canon Tech Support about this. This is very similar to an other problem where a bad batch of CCD's is the problem. The camera is replaced free of charge.

No picture

My S2 is on its second out of warranty CCD, and Fuji replaced both for free, the first was due to the same dead CCD as many has had, the second was due to the CCD being defective to the point of being off center and producing photos that had a very distinct leaning to the right, Fuji did not charge me for either CCD's, and if the tech said otherwise, if I where you, I would call them back and say you belong to many on line forums, and have read that Fuji is replacing them at no charge, its possible that the rep you talked to is unaware of this! That is another point, make sure you talk to an actual camera tech, and not just a rep, the rep will probably give you the run around.
