Question about ViewSonic Tablet PC V1100
I have a viewsonic v1100 tablet pc with no cd/dvd drive or floppy.
I can't install xp.
I've partitioned the drive using a usb caddy and placed the content of my xp cd on the 2nd partition. I've used usb keys to boot to dos and try to install from the i386 folder using winnt.exe, it won't work because it thinks the usb key is c:
I installed dos and tried to instal xp from there, xp freezes or quits or just shuts off in the middle of the file copy process.
I installed win 98 on an old laptop, pulled the drive halfway and put it in the tablet and managed to finish an install, tried to upgrade... freezes... tried a new install from 98, freezes.
I've installed xp on a 2nd machine and did the motherboard swap thing where you choose generic drivers for everything and it worked but I somehow lost the boot sector and couldn't boot from the HD.
I purchased a new hard drive and did all that again.
I checked the ram... good. I checked the new drive... good.
You need a CD/DVD USB drive.
Ask for one or use a HD 3,5" USB drive, open de HD USB disconect the HD and conect a CD drive, it will work like a CD USB drive.
