SOURCE: has always worked fine, til just now. took a

for your information the computer has nothing to do with the focus error!!!!
the error appears as a message due to either of these reasons.

  1. you have dropped down the cam.remember even a small drop may cause the lens to be damaged
  2. you have forced the lens to close inside
  3. the software inside the cam had been corrupted(not the one that came as an installation disk)
a more complicated problem could have happened to which can be found only after a physical examination of your device.so please take it to the nearest service center to get it repaired for free if its covered under warranty!
please do not try to disassemble it unless you know how to do it well!
thanks for contacting fixya!

SOURCE: Zoom error

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

Why do lots of people think a defective device will be healed with a reset? A camera, only has a microprocessor and a little program that runs from a flash memory. When something goes wrong in the ram part of the memory while running the program only one kind of reset exists. Just switch of the camera and one step extra, remove the battery. After replacing the battery and switching on, all software errors should be solved. Any hardware error will stay as it was.
Most settings, like switching off the display will stay as they were.
Perhaps you try pressing the display button several times, and look if the screen (display) will give what you expect.
Don't forget, if it works.

Check the settings. If that's not it one of the lenzes might have been nudged/pushed in or out a bit. If that's not it you may just have a lenze that was cut wrong...maibe some one replaced it with the wrong lenz.

Look for a switch somewhere around the lens that is probably stuch triggering the OSD to display "Lens Cap". You may have to depress nthe switch with a toothpick or paperclip. Look at the lens cap for something sticking out of it. That would be the actuator. Line that up and you should then find the switch.

Fe-310, only used a few times, kept protected, one

Short answer - yes.
Manufacturers have become very good at making products that are reliable for exactly 1 year.
Usually it's small components that have a deffinate shelf life.
I would first check that you are using the correct battery for it. Even if it looks like it takes standard AA's - they often will only work for original spec rechargable blocks.
If this does not solve it - write a letter to Olympus saying how dissapointed you are with their product.
They may offer you a good deal on a repair hopefully.
Unfortunately Sony and HP are even worse - HP and lexmark printers now stop working after a period of time - telling you to buy more ink - even though you still have plenty.

Lenz stuck out

If the lens mechanism has been damaged or is sticking from foreign material around the lens housing it will shut down when you try to power on. Once in a while you can try to assist the lens by placing gentle pressure against it when you power on and the lens may retract. This will most likely not fix the problem but it may give you a better idea if the mechanism is damaged or not.

Blank screen

Usually it's an lcd burn out where the screen needs replacement. Check the display button if it's just blank then press it to see if it comes on. As far as your friends white screen it not feasible to repair. A good thing to get on any digital equipment is an extended warranty. It does save you in the end when something goes wrong. The limited manufacture warranties are a joke. You should never rely on them.
