I have the same problem, a Write Protection error.
I have edited the registry, that didn't work...
I have booted from my windows CD to delete the partition, that didn't work either. (Just thought it might work that way)
I also tried to format it in My Computer, command prompt and in Disk Management, neither of that was a success. I also changed the the drive letter, you can guess by now what happened....... I can't do anything with my 2GB Kingston USB drive... Not even de-frag it, not to mention to copy my DATA to some place else... If any one has any suggestions, I surely will give it a try!! Because if have tried anything and everything that I could possibly think of !

my kinsgton usb won't work. when i try to open the files on my pc, it says that it needs to be re-formatted. but when i try to re-format it, it says that it can't be re-formatted because it is write-protected. i know that for floppy discs, you can choose to have it write-protected simply by pushing/sliding a notch on the disc. however, i don't see any similar notch/button on my usb. how do i solve this? Help!!!
