Mitsubishi WS-65908 picture problem

Specs on TV:
Mitsubishi WS-65908 rear projection 65"
Manufactured: November 2001

Our big screen is approx. 5-6 years old now. We have moved 2-3 times and never had any problems with it in the past. But now after turning on the unit and its been on for approx. 10-15 minutes, we are seeing the picture (on both sides) producing an hour glass shape. And than the left side of the picture going out of focus and distoration (colors: red, blue and green). Talking with other, they have mentioned about the CONVERGENCE setting. I gone in and attempted to reset the convergence, but not with any luck. The problem reoccurs and than stops for a short period of time and the picture would be fine. It's hard on the eyes!!

Any ideas what is going on here? I attempted to read through some other postings with users have similar issues, but different TV models, like mine but I think mine might be a little more specific...

Looking for any assistance, information and/or details. Can I handle the repairs as I'm a handyman or would it be best to leave it for the expects and their $$'s.

There should be an aspect ratio button or picture size button on your remote. If this doesn't help, then change the settings aspect settings on your cable/satelite box.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65869 65 in. Rear Projection Television and it has created a wavey line and has distorted the image. i have a picture of it i can send. Any help. i can send pictures of screen.

If you see separation of colors (red, green) in this wavey line most likely you have problem with convergence circuit. Two convergence amps have to be replaced. They located in a middle of the TV boards attached to big aluminum radiator and they part number starts with letters "STK".
I would recommend to let professional with this repair. Should cost you about $250-$300.

Big screen showing double and red ghost color

Go into your service menu and try to adjust the convergence, if it does not adjust, the IC's ( chips) are bad in that circuit. Call a local factory authorized dealer to service your tv. The cost should run around $450.00. Good luck.
