1 suspect speaker defect
2. suspect wiring defect ensure all your wires are connected up properly and your speaker are in good order
3. suspect that the cooler fan may be blocked and the system is overheating. use vacuum cleaner on air vents to remove dust.
4 see specialist as this product maybe defective.

PROTECT on display

Dear petfresh,
Please switch off the system, remove the speakers wires from the system and switch on the system. If system gets on then the speakers or speaker wires are defective.
Output IC is Audio out put IC.( Integrated circuit)
It can be fixed only by service technician at service point

Security Code for Protect mode

Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!

Protect error

The 'Protect' error means there is a DC voltage present in the output section(which should not be there). This can be caused by a defective output IC(the big IC on the heatsink). Disconnect the IC and see if the error goes away. Also check the resistors around the IC.

Sharp Stereo- Protect Mode??

Try plugging in a pair of headphones. I tried it without the speakers connected and since it found the headphones and they were OK the system came out of protect mode.
