Re: QuickBooks 2004 -Check "print as"
I have the same year program at the shop and had same problem. i called quick books and they offered no help except trying to sell me a new version because they don't support this no longer.
so i have found clearing my cookies and computer out from temp file and stuff using system cleaner in the programs has helped a great deal with this. all though it still happens now and then once i clear the old stuff out of the computer it works again. hopefully this help you and good luck.

If you are having problems printing in QuickBooks, follow these simple instructions to set up your printer correctly.
Open QuickBooks Go to "File" at the top left side of your screen & click on it This will open a drop down list Choose "set up printer" & click on it This will take you to a list of forms printed in QuickBooks Choose the form you want to print & click on it This will take you to a place to choose & set your default printer Find the box that has the current default printer in it & look for the arrow Click on the arrow next to the box with the printer name This will give you a drop down list of printers to choose from Find the name of your printer on that list and click on it Then save your choices by hitting "ok" and closing the box
Repeat these instructions for each form you wish to print in QuickBooks.
QuickBooks is not really designed to track lot/serial numbers, but here is something that may work:
1) From the "Item List"
2) Add (or Edit) an "Inventory Part"
3) Click on the "Custom Fields" button
4) Then, Click on the "Define Field" option
4) Then, place a check-mark in the "Label" box and then type "MFG Lot #" in the "Label" field
a) Most reports will allow you to "show" this new custom field
b) Warning: Custom Fields (in QB) are merely a "text" box, so don't expect to establish "drop-downs" or filter by a specific choice, since filtering requires "exact" text match. (for example, if someone types the lot # as: "1001-9008" (with hyphen) and you search for "10019008" (without hyphen) QuickBooks will not recognize as a match, when filtering/searching the reports.
You want to print things while in QuickBooks right? That's your problem? If so, then open your QuickBooks file and go to "file" at the top left of the screen. Click on File and then choose "set up printer" from the drop down list of choices. This will open up a list of forms. Choose the form that you wish to be able to print. Then lick on the arrow next to the printers name that comes up as the default chosen in QuickBooks. Change the printer name to the printer that you want to use to print the form. Then choose "ok" and close the window. Repeat the same instructions for each form that you wish to print with your printer. You dont want to use the QuickBooks PDF converter as the choice of printer. It's not a printer driver.
Go to the printers folder, right click the printer and chose properties. Under properties go to the advanced tab and check off print directly to this printer. I work with HP and find this solves the problem of printer 95% of the time
