QuickBooks 2004 -Check "print as"

Check printing invents a "print as" every now & then and editing the payee record does not show the field. And the check screen does not allow access to it. How to clear?

Check Printing (on only an occasional payee) shows "Print as: xxxxxx" above the payee line and then prints that on the check instead of the payee name.

Going into that "vendor" or "other" record to update the recipient does not have a field to contain or control "print as" - just doesn't show anything!

How can I remove that "feature" on that recipient? I can see where it might be useful, but no way to control it.

It was a disappointing answer, with a bit of a bazooka approach. Many cookies are quite useful and a more specific identification of WHICH cookies would have been more helpful.
I'll probably not do this at this point.

I have the same year program at the shop and had same problem. i called quick books and they offered no help except trying to sell me a new version because they don't support this no longer.

so i have found clearing my cookies and computer out from temp file and stuff using system cleaner in the programs has helped a great deal with this. all though it still happens now and then once i clear the old stuff out of the computer it works again. hopefully this help you and good luck.

This will open a drop down list
Choose "set up printer" & click on it
This will take you to a list of forms printed in QuickBooks
Choose the form you want to print & click on it

Find the box that has the current default printer in it & look for the arrow
Click on the arrow next to the box with the printer name

Printer suddenly stopped working with quickbooks but will still work with all other programs. window states: change port assignments or reinstall software. printer is hooked up wirelessly

Hi there,

  1. Open the QuickBooks sample company and try to print the same form or type of form. If it prints successfully, your company data, form template, or customized report may be damaged.
  2. Reopen your company file and try to print an uncustomized (standard/default) form template or non-memorized report. If the issue occurs again, refer to Verifying and rebuilding the QuickBooks company data and then attempt to print again.
  3. If you were printing a batch of forms in QuickBooks, attempt to print a single form. If successful, try printing smaller batches.
  4. If you were able to print from QuickBooks in the past from this company file:
  5. Turn off the printer, restart your computer, and then turn the printer back on.
  6. In QuickBooks, choose File > Printer Setup and check the printer settings for the specific form you're trying to print.
  7. Click Help in this area for more detailed instructions on these settings.
  8. Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers for your printer. Go to the manufacturer's website to download and install the most current drivers.
  9. Replace the QuickBooks Qbprint.qbp file:
  10. Close QuickBooks.
  11. Rename the qbprint.qbp file.
  12. Open QuickBooks and attempt to print again.
  13. If the issue persists, repair the QuickBooks installation.

Printer driver does not have full font support

1) Are you able to use the printer outside of QuickBooks?

2) Have you checked to make sure QuickBooks is set to use the same printer as your "windows default" printer?

a) In QB, go to "File" then "Printer Setup"
b) Then select "Checks" and review the printer selected, confirm that the default printer in quickbooks, matches the "windows" default printer

3) Are you using a different printer (other than the windows default printer)? such as a special printer with MICR ink?

Then you may need to reinstall the printer.

Item number setup

QuickBooks is not really designed to track lot/serial numbers, but here is something that may work:

1) From the "Item List"
2) Add (or Edit) an "Inventory Part"
3) Click on the "Custom Fields" button
4) Then, Click on the "Define Field" option
4) Then, place a check-mark in the "Label" box and then type "MFG Lot #" in the "Label" field

a) Most reports will allow you to "show" this new custom field
b) Warning: Custom Fields (in QB) are merely a "text" box, so don't expect to establish "drop-downs" or filter by a specific choice, since filtering requires "exact" text match. (for example, if someone types the lot # as: "1001-9008" (with hyphen) and you search for "10019008" (without hyphen) QuickBooks will not recognize as a match, when filtering/searching the reports.

You want to print things while in QuickBooks right? That's your problem? If so, then open your QuickBooks file and go to "file" at the top left of the screen. Click on File and then choose "set up printer" from the drop down list of choices. This will open up a list of forms. Choose the form that you wish to be able to print. Then lick on the arrow next to the printers name that comes up as the default chosen in QuickBooks. Change the printer name to the printer that you want to use to print the form. Then choose "ok" and close the window. Repeat the same instructions for each form that you wish to print with your printer. You dont want to use the QuickBooks PDF converter as the choice of printer. It's not a printer driver.
