Question about Kenmore Freezers
I have a Kenmore 13.5 cu. ft. Upright Auto Defrost Freezer that makes a groaning noise on an intermittent basis throughout the day and night. The temperature is fine, food remains frozen.
What is cause of noise and how do I fix it.
This sounds like you either have a bad fan motor or if you have ice built up on the inside back panel. It could be that the fan blades are hitting ice built up around it. If so, you will have a defrost problem that will need to be addressed to fix the unit. But to repair it so it will stop making the noise, you can defrost the ice (if present) with a hair blow dryer. This will keep the ice away for a few days. Good luck.
If there is a defrost problem, the heater (located around the coil) is most likely the problem.
