Question about Computers & Internet
Ok. This could be due to a number of issues.
One, it could be the plugin you have the monitor plugged into.
try to plug it into a different wall socket.
Two, it could be the power cord of the monitor itself, Depending on the name brand of the monitor, sometimes the power cable for the monitor is similar to the power cable that goes into the back of your desktop tower, you could try one of those if possible.
Three, the fuse inside the monitor could be blown ( if it has one ) If the monitor is no longer under warranty, you can try to take it apart, there should be a fuse somewhere along the power path, either on the cord itself, or somewhere close to where the power cord goes inside the monitor. The fuses are inexpensive to replace, and if you can find the fuse, just replace it with the same type of fuse from walmart, home depot, or lowes hardware.
Four, It could be the power inverter board for the monitor, depending on the name brand and the model of monitor, this could cost as little as 20 dollars to replace, and possibly as much as a couple hundred. This is also a relatively simple replacement if you google the monitors name brand with power inverter board.
Five, the mainboard inside the monitor could be fried, and at this point, unless your monitor costed over five or six hundred, it would probably be more economical to replace the monitor.
I hope this helps out, and thank you again for using fixya!
