Question about PC Laptops
I just got a brand new Acer Extensa 5620.
Out of the box, the computer doesn't boot up. Its a computer set up for Vista, so I got a Vista install disc and it began the install process. 1st issue it hits is that when Vista needs to be pointed to a storage device for installation, the computer says no device drivers found for the HD. The HD, according to BIOS info screen is a Toshiba MK2035GSS-S1. I have found no solution from the Toshiba site or Acer site.
#2 issue is that the LCD screen intermittenly washes out colors into greens and reds and get hazy as though a double image is occuring on the screen. If I were to hit the machine softly...the screen fixes. Its acting as though something is loose, but I'm not sure how to trouble shoot this issue.
Am I doomed...or can this be fixed easily...hopefully by me?
Unfortunately, the only way to repair the screen, is to send the computer back to acer. The prolem, is that the diode that controls one of the RGB Channels is broken, and since there are a million of these the size of a pin tip, it is extremely hard. As for the vista install problem, it could be a bad hard drive, try installing a new one, and if that doesn't work try finding the drivers it needs, and installing them somehow.
