How to access my WD ebook locally to store information??

Try and map it, by right clicking on 'my computer' and select 'map network drive'. In the folder option type: \\**ip address**\public (where **ipa address** needs to be the ip address assigned by your router or one of the 2 default names: mybookworld or wdstorage. If you have previously changed to name of the NAS drive, use the name you assigned.

WD external drive is not opening usb

If by USP, you mean USB, then this is not possible. The drives USB ports are only for extra storage and not meant for communication to a PC. You can try connect the drive directly to the PC with a network cable and then map it as a network drive.

To do this, right click on my computer and select 'map network drive'. In the folder option type \\**name of the device**\public and then select 'finish'.

**name of the device**: If you have changed the name previously, you should use that name for it. Ig you have not changed the name, then the default names are either mybookworld, so \\mybookworld\public or 'wdstorage', so \\wdstorage\public.

If you have created your own shares and wish to map them, just replace the public share with the share you want.

The drive will appear in my computer and you can access your data.

Hope this helped!

Mybookworld is not visible in mionet

Give up. I've had Mionet for over a year, and I have not been able to reliably access it remotely using Mionet, even on a 32-bit system. Mionet is finally advertising a 64-bit system, yet it still doesn't work--the drive shows "offline". Advice from Mionet in my many attempts to get support says to reset the hard drive--kinda hard when you're away on vacation. Even using Mionet web doesn't work reliably. In the end, the many, many chances I've given Mionet and Western Digital support to fix this have only resulted in frustration, delays, and ineffective advice. Overall, Western Digital has failed to produce a product that's remotely accessible, and you're left with a local-access-only outboard hard drive.

Can't manage MyBookWorld 1tb we (blue rings)

The issue you are experiencing is an error on our servers. Our next version of MioNet should prevent and resolve the issue, but in the meantime you must complete the following steps to regain remote access to your My Book World (blue rings):

To create a new MioNet account, please use the following instructions:

Part A. Reset MioNet/Anywhere Access

1. Please open your web browsers and enter (without the quotes) "http://<IP address of My Book World>" or "http://mybookworld" in the address bar. The Shared Storage Manager web page will appear. The username and password it requests will be the same as your MioNet username, and the original password used for MioNet (if you changed your password on our website, it does not update the My Book World).

2. Once you have accessed the Western Digital Shared Storage Manager please select "General Setup", then choose "WD Anywhere Access settings". On the following page you will have three buttons to select: please click on the "Stop" button, wait until WD Anywhere Access status goes to "Inactive", then click the "Reset" button. Once the WD Anywhere Access Status goes to "Not Registered," (on older firmware, it will go back to Active), the My Book World has been properly reset. This will return the MioNet software on the My Book World to default settings. It will not harm your stored files.

Part B. Uninstall and Reinstall MioNet (on a computer located on the same network as My Book World)

1. Uninstall MioNet from one of your computers.
2. Insert your Western Digital installation disk or download MioNet from http://www.mionet.com/mbvista and launch the MioNet installer.

NOTE: You must use the installation disk or the link above to create your new account. Certain functionality related to the My Book World is related to the installer you use to register a new MioNet account. Failure to use the proper installer may result in the need to repeat this process.

3. Register as a new user. You will need to specify a new username and E-Mail address.
4. During the installation, MioNet should detect the now reset My Book World. Please add it to your new account.

Part C. Uninstall and Reinstall MioNet on your other computers

1. Uninstall MioNet from your other computers.
2. Install MioNet using the Western Digital installation disk or downloaded from MioNet from http://www.mionet.com/mbvista and launch the MioNet installer.
3. Register as a current user with your new account's information.

Please let us know what your new account name is and we will follow-up with additional information. We will also send you instructions on how to reset that account's password.

Same problem with western digital hard drives not working with os lepoard-- but this time on a mac pro desktop tower-- too bad 4 me : (

If you have the my book world (blue rings), this NAS drive isn't compatible with apple. I have managed to get one of these drives working on a mac before, but the majority of the time, its unsuccessful.

We can give it a shot however...

First off reset the drive to get the default settings (skip this part, if you've never had the drive work before)

Reset Process: Knowledge base answer ID 1521

From the Go menu, select 'connect to server'. In the open field type: smb://mybookworld/public

NB: the drive name, by default, could be wdstorage, mybookworld. If you have changed the name, replace mybookworld, with that name.

If you want to connect to the configuration menu, replace public with configuration or configure (not completely sure which one it is).

Cant able to access the 1tb network storage

Consider a few things that may solve the problem:
1. this is how I always like to test; shut down the NAS drive for a minute and reboot; once rebooted see if it is accessible
2. need to know the ip address of the NAS drive and make sure that ip is not blocked by your system firewall (e.g. add that ip into trusted address on the firewall program; or temporarily disable any anti-virus or firewall and see if you can access, and if you can then it is the issue of firewall),
3.unless you have customized the settings, open my computer and on the addressbar type type the ip address if you know (if it is WD Mybook World then you can also try typing \\mybookworld on the address bar); in this case also try it by temporarily disabling any anti-virus or firewall program
4. one way you can figure out the ip for your nas drive is through the router's homepage; since I don't know your router type I can't give you specific steps; but try to get onto the router's main page and see the client's list or DHCP Client's List or something similar where you should see an ip also assigned to the NAS drive which is connected to the same router.

Post the feedback what happens... we'll see... good luck !!!

I can not link up with My Book World Edition 500GB

That is because the MyBook is set with a default IP address of 192.168.1.257. You will have to put a static IP address in that subnet range in order to be able to see the external drive. Hope this helps....

Acces denied

If you have linux experience and are up for a bit of hacking, here is a solution to your problem:

I bought a 1Tb MyBook World Edition, and it was little better than a doorstop because of the "Access Denied" bug. However, now it runs like a dream.

More things you can do with a MyBook:

Far far better than WD Technical Support.

Can't access my share folders

Drive management show only safely remove usb drive.
When u use mionet software it map the share to a drive letter. If u create folder or files on that drive u dont have permission to chance those files or folders on \\mybookworld.
Solution, dont use mionet software.
