Question about Samsung SyncMaster 2233BW 22" LCD Monitor

2 Answers

Having turned the PC off, when I have turned it back on the monitor has not turned back on. Since i have displaced the original instructions, and not knowing the functions of the buttons on the side of the panel i am unable to get the screen (monitor) working. I accept I am a bit of a plonker (dunce), but even I can usually get this to work. What simple thing am I missing?.

Hi,

There must be power button on the monitor, clicking the button will power it on...

Here is the instruction manual for your monitor, Please click on the below link to download the instruction manual..

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Samsung-2233BW-Monitors-manual/id/23135bh932/t/2/

If the power button doesnt bring you the display, please check whether you get any running sound from the CPU, can you hear the system running, Also check whether you have connected the display correctly..

Please leave me comment, if you need further assistance
Thanks for using FixYa!

Make sure all plugs and cables are properly plugged and attached to their corresponding ports/plugs. Also the power on button should be among the buttons on the monitor's side panel. Try to press them, usually the lowest button or the upper most button is the one used to switch it on.

I have a Gateway LP2207 Monitor and it will only turn on for 2 seconds then turn off. It was running fine originally until I went to lunch, came back and the monitor was black. I took the advice on this...

It sounds like your original problem was indeed a power issue that was having trouble keeping the lamps on. Replacing the capacitors was a 50/50 shot at repairing the problem and it sounds like in the process the monitor is now completely dead. The click is the lamp attempting to fire.
While you may have connected the cabling incorrectly I can not find a schematic for the inverter board to clarify what goes where. I also know that you should replace all the electrolytic capacitors as well as the ceramic capacitors as unseen damage may have occurred to them as well.

My brother placed a magnet on my moniter screen since then the screen shows different colours?

Have you displaced the magnet now? if not do it. Even after displacing the magnet retains the problem, you need to again keep the magnet as it was placed last time, this will discharge the electromagnetic process. Good luck

Try a different monitor. Most likely your having operating system issues that cause the monitor to do this.
Also - try this - As you turn the machine on tap the DELETE key - this will take you to the DOS platform of the computer. If the screen changes to anything you have operating system issues. Try a repair with the original disk or the operating system disk that was last installed.

Monitor not working

Try another monitor on your computer. If you still get a blank screen then its an issue with the computer not having any video coming out of the video card. If you hook up another monitor and you get video then its an issue with the original monitor.

Also try the original monitor on another computer and see if video comes up. If you still don't get video, that would mean the monitor is bad for sure since you would have tried it on two different computers.

PC Monitor and Game problem

Sounds like your dedicate video card bit the dust and you're back using the onboard video, which would absolutely be the reason why things got choppy-- it can handle the demands put on it by the games.

A new dedicated video card would fix the problems.

Monitor wont work

You were not very clear with your question. If you mean you have disabled your onboard video, then installed the new video card and get nothing then the card is not compatible with your system OR you got a bad card. If you mean you simply installed the card, turn on your computer and get nothing until you move your monitor plug back to the original port (without turning off the computer) then you must disable your onboard video by going into your BIOS settings. Follow the instructions that came with your video card or your computer to do that. Usually you get in by pressing delete or F2 while the computer boots.

Monitor black screen

Your first step in troubleshooting this problem is to plug in another monitor to your computer. If you are having the same problem it is related to your computer. If the second monitor works fine then your original monitor is shot.
