Sounds like your hard drive might be bad, its also possible that your cables are loose, follow the cable from your hard drive to your motherboard and make sure they are plugged in securly. If they are and your still haveing the same message then its possible that your hard drive is bad or at the very least that somehow the operating system has become corrupted. If you have the software that came with the computer, then you will need to reinstall the operating system.

Acer aspire d257 pxe-e61: media test failure, check cable error

Your computer tries to "boot" (start-up) from several devices:
* floppy-disk (if installed)
* disk-drive (if not "dead"),
* CD/DVD optical device (if "bootable" media has been loaded)
* PXE --> Pre-Execution Environment -- checks if there is a connection between the network-adapter on your computer to a "boot-server" on your local network -- it can load Windows from that "boot-server".

The "media-test failure" indicates that there is no network-cable attached to your computer *AND* the other-end of the network-cable is *NOT* connected to the "boot-server". So, you can that "error" message.

Is your disk-drive "dead" ????

Non system disk or disk error' 'replace and strike any key when ready' 'Media test failure Check cable' When l performed the Boot Utility test it returned an error message 'f

Sounds like a disk issue. It kind find the OS so it's then trying to PXE boot (boot from the network). Have you changed the boot order recently? or do you have a USB key connected to your server? are you able to connect to the management interface (hp ilo, dell drac) to see if you had any raid or other hardware issues?

Pxe-e61: media test failure, check cable acer extensa 542

Your computer tries to "boot" from several devices:
* floppy disk
* CD/DVD optical device
* disk-drive
* external CD/DVD
* USB memory stick
* PXE ("Pre eXecution Environment)

To use PXE, you need "media" -- a network cable connecting yur computer to a "boot-server". The "media test faiure, check cable" reports that no network-cable exists, or that it does exist WITHOUT being connected to a boot-server.

Probably, your computer failed to boot from a DEAD disk-drive, and then tried floppy/CD/USB before checking PXE.

Replace the disk-drive.

Toshiba satellite pro l450-13q PXE-E61 media test failure check cable

This indicates hard drive issues, or windows files have been corrupted. If you have a backup disk try and load windows, no change! have the hard drive tested for possible replacement.

Well, my computer doesn't start up and the screen says "Media test failure, check cable", "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". I don't know what the cable is and...

The uProcessor can't find a bootable device and presumes your hard drive is no longer plugged in. Standard error message.
Check your BIOS for the hard drive listing. If it is listed there is no problem with the cables.
You will need your restore disc to boot from and repair your boot sector on the drive.

You can solve this problem by:

-- cleaning system junk
-- optimizing computer services
-- repairing registry
-- defraging registry
-- clearing browsers junk

do these things with some secure tool such as Intel Software Partner Reginout.

Also remember to uninstall and reinstall updated drivers for your devices. Thanks

Computer freezes and shows a fault screen

Remove all the physical components of your computer and have it clean. You can use a brush or a blower and then reinstall your computer operating system. If it is windows xp then you will be needing the software for windows xp installation and then support cd for your motherboard and all support drivers.

Reboot and select proper boot device

Hi, ull need to check the boot device priority in ur BIOS which is accessable usualy by pressing the delete key at the start of the boot process. If everthing is correct there and yet it doesnt boot from ur hard disk, try changing it to boot from cd and check if it boots. If it does then i think either your hard disk is corrupted or your OS.

Xp boots and hang up on blank screen

Insert the original Windows XP "System Restore" CD-ROM,
and tell your computer to "boot" from it.

Does it boot, and get to a screen that asks you "do you really want to ...", or does it stop at a "blank" screen?

If it "stops", you have a "hardware" problem.
If it "asks", then either:
* your disk-drive has failed, or is about to fail,
* your installed copy of Windows is messed-up, and it cannot complete the "boot" process.

Take your computer to a computer-store, for more trouble-shooting.
