Question about HP (EQ773AA ) Docking Station for nc2400 Series

1 Answer

The ethernet cable port on my docking station is broken.

The ethernet cable port on my HP 2400 series docking station has stopped working. The lights no longer flash and I cannot access the internet via my docking station. When I plug the ethernet cable directly into my laptop I can access the internet. Can I get my docking station repaired ? How much will it cost to repair ? The docking station is out of warranty.

It is hardly possible that anyone will even try to repair it. And believe it or not, it is cheaper to buy a new one then to repair the old one

My HP 2840 Printer not fully functional via USB with my HP KQ752AA Docking stations (running Windows 7 32 bit), but if connected directly to the laptop it works...what is the problem w/the docking station?

Are you using the same cable to connect? The 2800 series printers do not tolerate USB cables over 10 feet and I have had some that would not connect properly unless a 6 foot cable was used. If you are using the same cable then it is possible that the drivers for the docking station are not installed properly on your laptop and you might need to update them from the manufacturers website.

In order to use the ethernet card on your Docking Station ( or Port Replicator), you must first disable any internal Ethernet cards.

To do this:
  1. Type "Network Connections" in the Start Menu seach box, and press enter.
  2. Right click on your computer's internal ethernet adapter (i.e. "Local Area Connection" & select "Disable"

The problem is definitely not with your docking station. Its the ethernet controller that is faulty. Possible reasons can be incorrect driver or device failure(not very unusual).
You said that you "have tried to install drivers from Marvell but no luck". This most likely indicates the device(ethernet controller) failure. Anyways try to download the drivers from the link below and give it one more shot.
If it still doesn't work a new ethernet controller card should do the trick. Considering the fact that you can get a good one from brands like D-link, Realtek etc., for about 25$ it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Hope this helps,
Sai.

Power jack connection broken on HP Omnibook xe3

I bought a docking station (port replicator) off ebay, and it has worked great. I had a look at the motherboard, and the docking station uses a different connection for power than the damaged AC port. So in summary, yes a docking port should solve your problem.

If you can get a docking station for it you may be able to solve it that way.

Ethernet in Docking Station

Some docking stations require device drivers in order for the ports to work. Try the link bellow for any drivers that are for the docking station. They're generally under utilities or applications, but could be else where. If there are no drivers, or if they don't work, then I suggest having the port checked. It could be a bad port. Also try any updated ethernet drivers for the machine, if it uses the machines integrated ethernet, then it could be the controller driver as well.

Hp 945 frosen with red light on

I posted on July 16 with this flashing problem and played around and got mine working again.
Originally I would charge through the docking port. What I did was pull the charged rechargable batteries out of the camera and took the charging cable from the docking station and pluged it directly into the port on the side of the camera. The camera started working again. Then while the charging cable was pluged into the camera, I reinstalled the rechargable batteries. After installing the batteries I unpluged the charging cable and the camera still works. I have shot and downloaded from the camera pictures with no more problems. Use the docking for downloading pictures and the side port on the camera for recharging the batteries.
I do not know if this has anything to do with the original problem but I did not have any problems with this camera until I placed it on the docking station with non-rechargible batteries.
Hope this helps.
